What's with cats and flushing toilets? Is it the circular motion or the sound? It just amazes me that they hate water but when that toilet is flushed, they are right there watching in the bowl looking like they are a kid in a candy store! Are you cats like mine?

I was actually looking at funny cat videos on youtube and I seen this little orange kitten fighting with himself/herself with this mirror. It was a full length mirror laying on it's side and this cute kitty was stretching his/her back and swatting at it haha so funny. Thanks for your comment

My cat enjoys toliet flushing also. My sister had a cat that after a toliet was flushed would stick his paws in the water and try to make it ago again. I guess they get mesmerized by the water going down the drain.

For one day I would like to be a cat just to know how their minds are, and how exciting little things are that would amuse me lol. Thanks for your comment

one of mine does this-i think in his case,it's the motion.he chases anything that moves, though surprisingly he hasn't stuck his paw in it. one i had previous didn't wait-he sat on the tank and flushed it himself.my dad was yelling at me about it until it flushed one day while we all were in the same room

Wow that's so funny! I had another cat that would jump up on my mom's counter and it happened to be located where your back was turned to it and he would scare the bleep out of me by tapping me on the shoulder. Thanks for your comment

my cats just love the sound of water. if i'm brushing my teeth, taking a shower, whatever, they wanna come play in the water! i know, weird cats but they really enjoy drinking from the sink and hanging out, i suppose its my own fault for letting them drink out of the sink, they wont even drink stagnant water (like in a bowl)...

My cats never jump up on counters, sinks in the bathroom but they sure love the toilet and occasionally I'll find the kitten peeking into the tub. I'm not sure what he's looking at in there but he's curious lol. It's nice that you let them have water from the sink.. nothing wrong with that Thanks for your comment

My cat actually drinks out of the toilet. We have tried having her drink from a water dish, but she would rather drink from the toilet! I think that it is not only the motion of the water in the toilet, but the sound as well. Cats are very curious and like to stick their noses into anything that makes noise or moves!

My mom's cat loved toilet water. I think they like this because it's nice and cold. I changed my cat's water a couple times throughout the day just to freshen it up and it's nice and cold for them. Today I was changing their litter and I feel that I'm under investigation everytime I do this because both of them will stand and watch me while I'm doing this chore. It's kind of creepy actually lol. They are perfectly happy once it's changed though. Thanks for your comment

That's funny. I have a new kitten and when he's big enough I hope I can train him to use the toilet. Has anyone done this successfully - potty trained a cat? How do they learn to flush? I think cats are attracted to the swirling water because of how their vision works. I can't thoroughly explain it, but they are good at seeing shadows and movement. That is also why they may bat at shadows or reflections on the wall.

I was reading an artical on how to train your cat to use the toilet. As for the flushing part, I'm not sure, that's something you may have to do. The artical said to slowly move the liter in phases closer to make it's way to the toilet. Once your cat is use to where it is replaced you have to move it again. Eventually move it to where the toilet it down on the floor beside it. Each time you move it leave it there for a week till your cat is use to it. Once you've made it to where the floor is by the toilet again leave it there for a week, then get a box to extend the height one step at a time, gradually making it to the height of your toilet. This could take weeks to do. Then you'll have to measure your toilet and find a litter box that fits under the lid. Once the cat learns to sit on the seat and use it's litter box, you can take the litter box away from the toilet and the cat is suppose to use the toilet.

I think it's the movement that intrigues them more than the sounds. I've never had a cat that didn't stand on the tub and try and batt the water as it was filling up. They always seem to be fascinated with the sink, the tub, and a flushing toilet hahaha. Yet you're right, they don't like to immerse themselves in it. Kind of odd behaviour when you really think about it.

We had a cat once that loved to drink from the faucet. He was still a kitten but would jump up to the bathroom sink via the toilet. He'd push the soap out of the was as he positioned himself to watch the tap flowing. After ataring for a while he'd stick his tonguw out to "catch" the water. It was the cutest thing to watch!
