What guitar chords do you think are the most important to learn? What chords did you learn first? For me, it was G, C, and D. Then I learned A and Em. Let me know your thoughts.

Im a guitar player. So far i havent encountered this kind o problem. All guitar chords are important bro, you cant feel the essence of music if you dont know all the chords. So better familiarize them and try to learn them.

Yeah of course, the major chords are the most important. When I was started to play the guitar, I got first the chords C and G, then D... with these 3 chords combination, I was able to accompany the song "Leaving On A Jetplane". Em was the next chord I've learned after the three, then I proceeded to the rest.

Hi Johnny, it's good to talk to another musician every once in a while! Yes, those are the first important chords one needs to master! And some chords that are going to be a little bit difficult next are: F,Bb,& B,! In actuality, all the chords are important to learn! All the major chords, all the minor chords, and all the seventh chords are primary on the list! Next will be the Maj.seventh chords, and Minor seventh chords! And this will cover a lot of songs, until you enter another level of playing, which involves chords that I don't even know their name!

I learned open chords first, but barre chords are the best to learn coz once you learn them you can play any chords. But it really depends on what type of music. The Beatles used mostly open chords, but if you really want to rock hard barre chords and power chords are your best friends.

The best chords to learn first are the major; A, B, C, D, E, F, and G. They will help you transition into the minors and other chords fairly easily. I learned those first and figured out the rest of the chord positions. You don't even half to know of the the chords to play a song. I've read that there are over 1000 songs that only use 3 chords in the whole song.

I suppose it depends on what music you want to play. for me I wanted to play rock so and I found that the most commonly used chords were A, E, D and G. But its good to learn different chords from the style of the music that you want to play.

I learned C, G, and A I think. Then F. And then more as needed for various songs. But I usually don't memorize chords unless I plan to use them a lot. I just write them in standard notation and I can read that much faster. Mostly though, I don't need to know chords anyway for classical guitar stuff.

I think the easier to be learned is G as the root note, since there are a couple of songs which only uses 3 notes, the first, fourth & fifth, so if you play in G, it's G, C & D. those are the first chords that i learn so i can play a simple song :) then i learn A, Am, E, Em which also easy to learn, to hardest one for me is F & B / Bm, it takes a lot of time for me till i can make the sound really clear :)
