Guidelines

One of the things that I took note of when I started here at myLot are the guidelines or the do's and don'ts. Well, yes, there were few instances that I might have committed some violations especially when I was still starting. Have you read the do's and don'ts? Do you know it by heart? Do you remind other members here about the guidelines when you see them violating some of the rules and regulations? Do you immediately report them? For the past few weeks or so, I have read a lot of discussions here talking about the growing number of members posting one-line(or even one-word) discussions. I do agree that this is becoming a trend here. In fact, before I posted this discussion, I was going over the discussions posted under LIFE and I saw one page full of one-liners from just one member. This person has more than 300 posts so I don't think this person doesn't have any idea of how things are supposed to be here at myLot. There are also discussions that are of poll-type like "how old are you?" which is also one of the don'ts here at myLot. Isn't it that we are also expected to post in English? Of course, I know that most of the discussions posted here in other languages have already been deleted. Others even take offense when you remind them about this. We are also encouraged to search for existing topics before starting new discussions. Unfortunately, others just post to their hearts desire even if the same discussions have already been posted. Oh well... These are just my observations...

As a new comer, I say thanks for your observation and your willing to report here. I have started a new discussion and i give it "what should i do as a new comer" as a topic. I have some responses for my post. Some of them told me not to post a short posting. The other told me to use only english language. I must be thank for senior here, they teach me a briliant lesson.

I have also observed the same things that you are talking about here. I don't start too many discussions but when I do, I try to search to see if another discussion has already been started before starting one. One liner discussions just make me not want to respond to them at all. If someone ask a question, then share your views about what you are asking. I don't like to respond to a discussion that my response will be longer than their discussion.

I rarely respond to one-liner discussions. Sometimes even if the topic is interesting when there is not much substance to the discussion, I do not respond.

I have seen some of the same things. I may even be guilty of one or two. I have gotten some one line replies. I even got one word once. The one word reply made no sense to me. I do not know all of the rules. Unless this is all of them that you mentioned. I know I don't search for discussions simular to mine, because if I don't get out what I want to ask or say I will forget it. I do not say something to others when they break a rule.

I plan to. I will do it soon. I have to find it in here. I'm leaving soon to go to the doctor. I don't know how much I'll be able to get on, because my back hurts badly. I will try at least once a day.

I have went over the rules and guidelines also for Mylot. I think I may have braoke a few myself since joining here over a year ago. I have noticed alot of people break the rules here every day. I don't waste my time responding to those because Mylot will delete them eventually. I try to play by the rules here to make sure my account stays safe.

Before, I have posted a discussion on my humor about answering an application questionnaire. I used some native phrases in answering some of the questions. I only got one response from that discussion which warned me about the discussion I started being possible for deletion. Though offended at first, reading the guide lines clarified me of my mistake. The following days and that discussion of mine indeed got deleted. The one liner dicussions are indeed getting rampant these days that my motivation in participating in the dicussions tend to deteriorate. I once replied to a poll discussion and asked in what way could this poll be counted, manually counting each response? I hope such discussions come down to a minimal at a daily basis of myLot-ing for me..

Hi dolce_vita! I have observed the same thing my friend. I used to respond to those type of discussions before since as a courtesy to those listed in my friends' list. However, I have not been responding to those type of discussions lately because it does not only affect my number ratings for it will surely be deleted but will also somehow encourage people to post more discussions like that and in a way encouraging them to violate the rules and regulations. When I first got here, I admit I just scanned the do's and don'ts but when one of my discussion was deleted, I read it once again and this time, I read it carefully. haha.. I am really sorry for all those in my friends' lists whose discussions are in violation of the mylot rules because I won't be responding to them anymore. I haven't reported anyone and don't have any plans in reporting them. Take Care and Have a Nice Day! God bless!

I have read the guidelines but sometimes we just forget. As to others who just posted one liner its their style. Others are not English speaking people but I understand they are trying their best. Me, I dont search other discussions, if I have something on my mind I just started it for discussion, later I will find out there are same related topics. At least I presented not as the same as the others.

Like they saym they are guidelines, not necessarily rules. Rules are supposed to be followed to a T, but guidelines, are just general rules, that can lean and sway and bend to suit whatever is going on. Can't fault people for it.

I often see discussions from new members asking why their posts have disappeared or their earnings have been reduced. Other members complain they have not earned anything for their posts. If they had read the myLot guidelines they would understand the reason for this. Posting discussion after discussion will not earn anything myLot if there are no responses. Responses with two or three words are not quality responses. Posts with referral links will be deleted. Any discussion reported for violating the guidelines will be removed. New members need to understand these points. Anyone can make a mistake and most of us at sometime have done something which is against the guidelines but it does no harm to keep reading them to remind ourselves what is acceptable and what is not.

While I did read the guidelines when I started, it's always a good thing to go back and refresh your memory. I've done that as well, but I'm sure I will slip up now and then. People do. I don't think every one line question should be avoided, and I hope that they are not all deleted. Some questions don't require a lot of words, but the responses might take volumes. I would think that would be admissable. But, I guess if one poses a short question, one could always include what he/she thinks about the topic which would add to the one-line post. As for not posting the same topics as someone else, I might search first. If there are numerous such posts on that topic, I might leave it alone for a while. But if there is only one or two, I might go ahead with it. After all, I most likely different contacts and friends, so the same people will not necessarily respond.

Honestly when I started here, I never cared to read the guidelines. But there came one time that I responded to one discussions, that I felt so ashamed. I just post my response without even reading the whole topic. That was because I was coping for the days that I was not logged-in and I tried to make more posts. After that incident, I go to guidelines and made a print-out of it so I can review it at home. There is also one member here, one of my friends that posted a lot of discussions. His topics are very simple, short and poll-type ones. I actually responded to some of his discussions but never bothered to response again. That is because I am afraid that his discussions may get deleted. I have no time to tell him what had he done because I am also afraid he might get offended...

Thank you for sharing your experience here in myLot and for reminding us all about the guidelines of posting. Really appreciate it. I am very new here in myLot but just like in any other sites that I join, I always try my best to learn the rules so that I will not violate them. Personally, I respond to postings because I like the topic and I want to share my ideas. I am not the one-liner kind, so I'm fine with that specific rule. Also, when I start a discussion I check the search button above if there is any existing post or discussions going on already about that post. If I noticed that there is already a post, I usually check it out. If I noticed that last reply was made like a year or many months ago, I try to create my own to get fresh new ideas. I hope I am not violating this one. One thing I also noticed, there are times that I make a search, no discussion opened yet, I started a discussion and suddenly, there are similar posts showing. Do you have any idea why this happen sometimes? Also, I was looking for a discussion on how we can add photos to our interests. Like for example, I want to add photos of places I have visited but I can not add an image unless I open a new topic. Is this the only way to add a photo? Anyways, thanks for sharing.

What tends to bug me, and some of the other members who have been around for quite a while, is that most of the time, these people continue to post like this, and their discussions often never get deleted either, and the Good discussions sometimes get deleted just because sometimes of what someone posts in the responses as well. I can admit, there might have been times I have started a discussion or two that others might have also posted something simular like that too, but for the most part I try to be original. I think sometimes, with a lot of the things that go on around the world, that sometimes everyone wants to just talk about the same things sometimes. So the thing would be, how to seperate yours from theirs to where you can get some decent feedback on that topic as well. All I can say is, we will never figure out this site no matter how hard we try, and why even try too? We should just continue to follow the people we really like and trust in here, and wait for the newer people here to catch on to this as well. But some Great points here for sure.

Hi there, I have read the do's and donts numerous times. I can't really remember them though. I have probably made some blunders myself. I don't report anyone, I haven't been here long enough. Now if someone just outright tracked me down constantly without provocation and was giving me a hard time, I would probably report that. I thought about printing off the rules and stuff, but instead, when I start to do something new, I just go back and read that part. The other day I was ready to post some pictures so I went and read up on that.
