I've asked doctors about this, and none of their suggestions have helped. I flat out refuse to rely on sleeping pills. I just can't get to sleep at night, and I'd like any suggestions that you all have for falling asleep faster.

One thing is if you are downright tired then you will fall asleep for sure. Like you have to do some heavy exercise or atleast walk for 45 minutes. When i do yoga for half an hour i can sleep like a log. Other than that you can have warm milk and honey just before you go to bed. Or you can have a bath in warm water before retiring

Drink some milk before going to sleep. Try to have a head or body massage it will make you feel relax and fall asleep easier. Don't take any caffeine so you can sleep immediately. Meditate and try to relax your mind. Some problems like this is the cause of stress at work or at home. Some problem really bothers us to fall asleep. So try to relax and rest for a good night sleep.

Do you like herbal tea? I used to drink Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime tea in the evening and it seemed to relax me. I read somewhere that if you get some exercise a few hours before bedtime, that you body is in a more relaxed state and that's supposed to help with falling asleep but I've never tried that one out.

I also have trouble going to sleep at night. It seems like I lie there for hours. I've even tried staying up later but that doesn't help, just seems to make it worse. My dr finally prescribed me some ambien and let me tell you, it works miracles. I don't take it very often because I have 2 young children and it knocks me out completely! I usually take it once a week or every other week and since I started I've slept better every night. I would ask your dr for a 7 day sample.

Try going on a walk or two, or finding some type of movement-related activity to do in your free time. Find something that will take the energy that is keeping you awake and put it to better use.

I have trouble sleeping at night also, I don't want to start taking sleeping pills either. I usually just watch tv until I fall asleep but if anyone has any suggestions I am more than willing to try them. Good luck.
