I know some folks just cannot eat left overs, because my dad was one of them. They said the food does not taste the same as when freshly cooked. As for me, I can eat it either way. What about you?

I like leftovers for most foods, sometimes better than fresh. I eat them until they run out. My FAVORITE leftover is my husband's, delicious eggplant parmigiana!! He makes enough that I can have it for breakfast, lunch and dinner and I can't get enough of it!! One thing I don't LOVE leftover is fish, but I will eat it if there is nothing else. I do like cold, leftover crab, if I don't wind up eating it all at dinner, as it's my favorite seafood. I dip it in butter...MMMMMM!!

I can eat either, too. But I don't think I'd want to eat one or the other soley, all the time. Some foods taste best freshly made, but I also like the taste of some leftovers sometimes, too; the flavors semm to get deeper. xD

my father in law is exactly the same way so lucky us, we get their left overs (which my hubby nor i mind in the least - it sure saves us $$!) i imagine it would have been pretty expensive to feed him over the last 70 years! in fact, i love leftovers because it saves us money!

It sure does save us money. Now we know that many of us use left overs, so it helps to save a little financially. Thanks for your response.

We eat alot of leftovers. With the price of food nowadays you just can't afford to throw things out you have to heat them up the next day. The food does taste better when it is fresh but leftovers are not that bad.

Depends on what the left overs are they have a really good taste. Like red beans soup I love eating the left over soup. As a matter of fact I can eat it as far back as 4-5 days.lol Thanks for responding.

Your dad couldn't live in my house! I absolutely use leftovers to make another meal. If i bake a ham today what is leftover will show up as ham salad, ham sandwiches, cubed up in a pot of Lima beans or something else within the next day or so. Food just costs to much to waste around here.

He sure was not a person who like eating leftovers. There are so many uses for it though. I am glad you use them wisely. Thanks for responding.

I know what you mean, because my boyfriend is pretty much the same as your dad. But in his case it is not because the food tastes differently, but that he is lazy. It is just easier to wash the leftovers out or throw in the bin, rather than put them in a container (don't ask me why he thinks that is easier..) Normally the leftovers a perfect size for a lunch box though, which means I "rescue" the leftovers, and have them for lunch at work the next day. That saves me from having to buy lunch! I also do not quite agree with your dad, some meals does actually taste better a day later, when they have been allowed to "suck up" the flavour etc. Examples are potato gratin, potato salad, lasagna etc. Many oven baked dishes and stews for example get a more full flavour when it has been left to rest over night! At least that is my opinion!

Either way is fine for me. If I cook and there is enough left over for the next night, we have left overs. I have no problem with it because it gets me out of cooking for a night. Leftovers also make for good lunches.

I do not have money to waste food, if there are left overs I eat them, and some foods taste better left over, like a nice stew for example.

I too, ate left overs as a kid, therefore I will and do eat left overs to this day. I don't understand why someone would not want to. I believe that some dishes are even better the next day, for example, my husband makes a wonderful potato soup and on the 2nd day it is even better because it has thickened up more and is just creamier or something. I also don't understand how someone could want to throw away so much good food. If I have made something good and I know I am going to have a lot of left overs, I will call family or friends to see if they want some, that way I don't have to throw it away.

I love leftovers! I usually eat them cold too and I think they are so good. We grew up eating leftovers so I have no problem eating them now. My grandma throws everything away, she does not save anything. She would rather make a fresh batch the next day then eat the leftovers. My husband is gone and I am still cooking portions like he is still here. My husband eats A LOT so I always have tons of leftovers. At first I tried to eat them but after day three of eating the same thing I got sick of it and would throw the rest in the trash. I've started freezing meal sized portions in my freezer to have later. It is so nice on a night that I just don't feel like cooking or if I get home too late to fix something.

From the time I was a child we ate leftovers so I'm used to them...and some things taste better the second time around. Chili for one, is hotter I guess because those spices have been in there longer. I used to notice a change in the taste of reheated foods but, since microwaves entered the picture, I don't anymore.

I am fine to eat a fresh meal or leftovers. When you move out and have to cook for yourself, I think you'll learn to appreciate leftovers pretty fast. I hate cooking a small meal every night or twice a day for that matter if it's lunch and dinner. So I usually cook up a huge batch of food and then, voila! Leftovers for two or three days. Three might be pushing it for some people. But it beats having to do dishes for all those days in between. Oftentimes, I don't even bother trying to make leftovers into a new dish - that would mean more dirty dishes! Unless we're talking about sandwiches, which would be fine.
