I made some Sour Cream Lemon bread in my bread maker today. I had not used the bread maker in a long time, but I was flipping trough a cookbook today and saw a recipe for this bread and it sounded good. It had a recipe for a spread to go with it too. I made it and it is wonderful. Have you baked anything lately? Do you like using a bread maker?

This bread sounds so good. I am going to make it tomorrow. I have been obsessed with making bread this week. My mother-in-law just gave me her bread machine and so far this week I have made a rich white bread, sourdough bread and a banana nut bread. I cannot believe how easy it is! I am having so much fun using it!

I made some zucchini bread yesterday, but I did not use the bread machine for that one. I just popped that one in the oven.

lilybug that does sound really delicious. good for you. the last time I baked was a total disaster.I thought nobody could mess up with baking powder biscuits but I did. they were dry and did not rise and were just awful. the baking powder was fresh too. so do not know what I did wrong. they were really really awful.

I made some biscuits one time that turned out terrible. I have no idea what I did wrong on them. I hate it when that happens.

Gosh, that sounds so delicious! Would you be willing to part with the recipe? I have never made anything other than sourdough bread from a mix in the bread machine and that always turns out so yummy! Oh I hope you will share this recipe. Thanks so much! :D

I got it out of my Taste of Home Contest Winning Recipes cookbook from 2005. Sour Cream Lemon Bread Ingredients: * 1/4 cup sour cream * 2 tablespoons lemon juice * 2 to 3 tablespoons warm milk (70° to 80°) * 2 tablespoons butter, softened * 1 egg * 2 teaspoons grated lemon peel * 2 tablespoons sugar * 1 teaspoon salt * 1/4 teaspoon baking soda * 2 cups bread flour * 1-1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast * LEMON SPREAD: * 1 package (3 ounces) cream cheese, softened * 1/4 cup confectioners' sugar * 1 tablespoon lemon juice * 1 teaspoon lemon peel Directions: In a measuring cup, combine sour cream and lemon juice. Add enough milk to measure 1/2 cup. In a bread machine pan, place the sour cream mixture, butter, egg, lemon peel, sugar, salt, baking soda, flour and yeast in order suggested by manufacturer. Select sweet bread setting. Choose crust color and loaf size if available. Bake according to bread machine directions (check dough after 5 minutes of mixing; add 1 to 2 tablespoons of water or flour if needed). In a small mixing bowl, combine the spread ingredients; beat until smooth. Serve with the bread.

That sounds really yummy. I want a bread maker so bad! I've not gotten one for years because for the longest time I had no self control at all when it came to bread. I've since reworked my eating habits, learned to love portion control so I think I'm ready to have one in the house and not go nuts. It's probly be like when I bought the crock-pot a few years ago, I don't think I cooked a meal in anything else for months, lol.

Crock pots are great. I don't use mine as often as I should though. It would prevent me heating up the house to make dinner.
