I think much better to use automatic instead of manual because it's convenient.

I think driving automatic is good for a new driver but if you know already manual is more fun because you have your control of your speed. Ok?

I have driven both automatic and manual cars and pickups. Your right in that the automatic is easier to drive. The manual takes much more practice to learn to drive. The automatic shifts the gears when it is time to. You have to know when to use the clutch to shift gears when you get to the right speed. The manual car uses less gas than an automatic does. If an automatic has the battery run down the only way that you can get it started is to have another car give it a jump from their better. A manual can be started with a push and popping of the clutch. With price of gas these days I think the manual is a better choice better choice.

This is a very subjective topic. I prefer manual but of course automatic is great too. One advantage of manual cars or vehicles is its convenience to push start the car in case the battery is flat.

automatic is much more easier to do but manual is much better to use.... when automatic breaks down, the parts of it are more expensive.... while manuals are cheaper and much easier to fix!

I agree that driving an automatic is easier. That is my preference. But it's probably a good idea to learn how to drive a standard also, just in case you need to drive one if there is an emergency. Welcome to MyLot. Good luck.

my lil pony - mustang gt
Automatic might be easier for most and more convenient, however, I love driving manual......it is a lot more fun, specially since it's a Mustang GT. The first manual I learned to drive was a pickup truck. However, we have both sitting in the driveway, the Mustang and suv are manual, and we have a blazer and bronco that are automatic. It was nice having that choice when I strained my right wrist last year, making it a bit hard to shift.

I think it depends on the driver. What they learned on may be what they stick with. I think automatic is a smoother ride.

I actually find manual to be easier to drive, city or highway... I drove my girl friend's automatic car few times but I didn't like it at all... I keep letting go of the gas paddle... With manual, it just comes naturally for me... I guess I've been doing it so long, I don't really think about it... When I bought a new car with manual transmission, I did notice a slight difference in "clutch point", don't know what else to call it... Took me all of about 1 & 1/2 hours to get used to it...

automatic, first i don't know how to use a stick shift, second its easier to use because there would be no more clutch and third the traffic here is so bad and by using an automatic car will lessen the hassle in traffic situations.

I prefer the ease of operating a manual. Although, I learned how to drive on a stick shift manual. It is a good idea to learn how to change gears, shift, etc, in case you need to drive someone else's car in an emergency situation. Plus, you can save money buying and driving a manual.

For city driving, automatic is preferable. When traveling far, manual would be good.

An automatic is easier and more convenient but a manual does save gas when you learn how to use it properly.

it's better to learn on manual then drive on automatic, if you can afford one.

I hate automatic cars because they make me feel sick!
