Regarding the little star beside your nickname...

Here's another warning for you, myLotters, who really treasure the little star beside your nickname. As I've stated a few times before in other discussions, if you treasure your little star, keep away from sensitive discussions where people are so hot-headed, they will bash on everyone who doesn't agree with them (religion and politics, anyone?). Luckily, I don't really care about the little star, as I've just observed my rating go down from 76 to 70 overnight. Do you think that myLot should notify you from which discussions your rating got a (+) or (-)? It should help you star lovers to know what kind of discussions would drop your star (or make it twinkle)... Have a nice day, everyone!

It's good to have this little star, i think. I can gain my reputation from the posts and responses i have made. And my paiyment depends on my reputation. It's fair! If u pay more time to read posts and type responses, u should and u can get more money. And if without the little star, we gain the same money from typing a line or 10 lines. Imagine that, won't u still pay ur attention to the posts u read or u make?

Of course I pay attention to my posts (and what other people post in reply to my discussions). I always try to respect everyone. It's just that I don't really care about the little star. Caring too much about the little thing is only going to make me go insane, because responding to trolls most likely will make your star rating drop. I've tried to avoid discussions haunted with trolls, but I somehow always get attracted to them... :)

Well, I myself do not respond very often to religious or polotical discussions. But I have ran into several hot-headed people here on this site anyway. I have experienced my star dropping from time to time from a 10 to a nine, never no lower than that. But I did post a discussio about a month ago, about weather my avatar bothered anyone. Most people loved my avatar and told me to keep it, but a few said it flashed, and could cause headaches, I lisened to the few, changed it. But I droped to a 7 and have remained there ever since. So I do not worry much about my srat anymore.Their are way too many haters on Mylot for me.Thanks for the info.

Yes a very interesting point. Mylot should notify us about the discussions which got us negative points at least. Misuse of negative points will be avoided at least.

Hi, The star beside the nickname is the reputation of mylotters. The larger the number in the star, the high rating the mylotters have. 10 blue star is the highest star rating.

Same here. Somehow, I always get attracted to respond to such discussions. Maybe it's because I can't stand to watch trolls and their illogical thinking go bashing on other people. No offense, anyone... But I do try my best to still be respectful. It seems that my gesture of good will isn't taken lightly by trolls, though. :)

well, i already know about this for quite some times now as there are people out there aho had been abusing this star system... i don't really care that much about my star ratings... as long as i am being honest to myself, that is the most important things... i will voice my opinions honestly and if because of that my star gets abused, i don't care... take care and have a nice day...

its a good idea, knowing how your star ranting rises or fall, in which discussions did you get a (+) or (-). yeah i guess the admin of mylot can do that if its not too much to ask

You already have it! You get it when you post count is over 100. I see that your star is rated at 8. To get the precise number, just hover your mouse over the star. The exact rating would then applear. In your case, it's 82/100 at the moment.

I do think that myLot should give us a clue as to why our star dropped. It would be nice to know if it is a particular discussion we started that got us into trouble. Or, maybe something we said in another discussion. I just think we should be allowed to know why we got into a bit of trouble. And, to say that we should just know isn't fair. I have many pages of discussions that I have started and those that I have responded to. To just "know" what I did or said is like asking a person what they wore 365 days ago.

In my opinion, getting to know from which discussion/response you got a (+) or a (-) would increase the quality of discussions here at mylot. We would know what kind of discussions/responses would be good and which ones would be considered bad or offensive. As we are all striving to get more positive ratings, the quality of discussions here would also increase.

I'm not sure what the little star beside my name is right now, it might still be a 10, but I'm not too terribly concerned with it. Mylot is one of the few places where I say my opinion regardless of what other people say. I do however think it's great that so many people can converse about all kinds of topics here, and the only thing they have to worry about is their star going down, in the grand scheme of things, that's not that big of a deal. I'm more of an "agree to disagree" kind of person.

thank you for your warning but perhaps the best way is to participate in sensitive discussion only to share our own views. I believe this is healthy because this enables us to learn from each other and to avoid conflict lets make it a point to respect the opinion of others for this is a free world after all.

Hello! I feel it would be good if know how and who rated us (+) or (-). So we could become cautious from such fellow users. Even i had rating the as eight and was suddenly reduce to seven its hurts for that instance , Awww... so sad! Later i try to do more well, still my earnings are not upto the mark. I don't know why? I guess they should give the payment details too. What do you feel? Have a great day!

quetzalcoatl yes it would be nice if mylot would notify us if we got minuses or pluses but I imagine that would be a huge undertaiking as there are so many of us mylotters now. I dont know if they would do that but us star lovers would certainly like it if they did.
