The main reason I think why Vista is so dreaded is because most the PC around are not apt to run it. If the machine is very capable then every one would love Vista. Most of the users anyway are using them for word processing, spread sheets and browsing, surely vista can easily do that.

"Most of the users anyway are using them for word processing, spread sheets and browsing, surely vista can easily do that" AHhahahaI like the way you put it ferdzNK my friend. Plus I don't think the Windows Aero is really a necessity & it really eats into your RAMMay appear to be impressive but non-essential, haha

Ha ha! today probably not but the moment popular software releases their updates and the games optimized for vista, by that time the PCs fit to run it will be a lot cheaper too, most if not all will switch to Vista.

I have vista and they are right it is not compatible with much. They are still working out the quirks in the system which is not good for us vista users. It will take time and it will get all worked out. any thing new has some problems.

I am using XP now and I am not preparing to update to install a Vista.Yes,released in 2001,XP might be a little old,but MS 's new product is really not satisfatory in many areas. It requires much higher computer configuration, that means great amount of fund on upgrading your configuration, and it operats slower than my current XP.I suppose I wouldnot install Vista in the next two or there years.

I love Vista, and haven't found any problems with the things I want to do. My iPod works perfectly with it, and the games I have installed have all worked fine as well. I really like the layout and the widgets. I've heard of other people having problems ... but I'm very happy with it myself.

Most users still prefer xp over vista because vista consumes more system resources like ram, hard disk space.also the software market is not yet ready for vista. They face many compatability issues. also there is no proof that vista performance is better than xp.some users even say that xp runs better even with minimum resources.

I had a friend who owned a brand new laptop installed with Vista OS, and it was slow. We decided (me and another friend who was well knowledged in computers) that vista is not really that good and we would still prefer XP. And personally, I want simplicity in my computer and Vista's got all the gimmicks and that. And from what I heard, Vista still is unstable even after 1 year of it's release.

Yes, Vista does have a lot of compatability issues which is why people are so reluctant to use it. If your components are a few years old then it is likely that the manufacturers have not written drivers for Vista and they will not work. For those people with a new computer the issues are still present, because you are likely to have a scanner or other external equipment that does not run under Vista.

well i think the reason is that vista slows dow the computer a lot and it has too many complications and that is why this has happened.

Yup, compatiblity issues plus it requires a lot more juice+power. Higher requirements - more RAM + CPU power to really run it at optimum. I'm still running on XP on both my laptop & PC at the moment. And like I mentioned by replying my friend ferdzNK, there's not really a need for the Aero technology

I think it's just because it was what I was use to and it's already on my computer. I have not purchased a new computer that includes Vista and I certainly would have no interest in going and purchasing it since my current programs work just fine.

I prefer XP since it has sufficient features for me and I think Vista does not has the new important feature. So, I think it's not worth for upgrade now.

Well I bought my laptop about 8 months ago and it came installed with Vista Home Premium and I haven't encountered with any type of problem with it. It's easy to use and I love it. So to answer your question I pick Vista, because I grew use to it now.

As vista is new it has many compatibility issues because not many programs are made for vista slowly it will beat XP. As XP is old it has no compatibility issues. And one more reason, Vista uses alot of memory which results in slowing down of computer. As new computers will come and new programs will come Vista will become best but right now according to me it is Windows XP. I hope your question gets resolved by my answer :) .
