I had to go back to the house 2x because I felt I had not locked the door...

The other time I felt that I didn't turn off the cooker. Fortunately I did on all occassions. I had gone halfway to my destination but I didn't mind going back to give myself a peace of mind. Have you ever been paranoid like this?

Yes. I have. When I played the violin, I would automatically put my bow away but I would still think, " Did I put my bow away?" I like to keep my bedroom door closed. And I close it but sometimes as I run for the bus , I think, "Did I close my bedroom door?"

Aah, that's good. For me I have to double check my bag all the time if I had the key. I'd check it before going out of the door and I'd check it again just after I had locked the door behind me.

I have felt the same way before when I leave. Trying to remember if I locked the door myself and I also make sure I have my key on me before I leave. I go back and check myself. So I understand how you feel.

I guess being so right minded I can't stay focus no matter how I want to LOL! Today I had to deliberate with myself again if I locked the door or not even if I had only gone steps away from the gate.

No. I think when I need to go out, I check well before leaving, and whenever I am out, I do not think much about what is happening back at home. I think this sort of act reflects that you are in some sort of disturbed mind. Try concentrating on one job at a time. It helps eliminating small overlooks.

You're right. My mind gets preoccupied much of the time so I can't concentrate on what I'm doing. I also like multitasking and I think that's one reason. Good for you, you are very alert.

hey jemina these kind situation happen when your mind is not in satable , i am not saying that your have problem in your mind , but just that you have some mental blaockage for little time... it happens when you are in hurry or you want to do all the things (many things at same time ) or your possesive to someting .. or you dont want to embarress or similar kind of situation for getting late ... it very normal to human being and in these situation one should have calm down , check all the things and start planning the things , if you wann go out side so give 10 to 15 minutes to plan out , what yiu have to do befor leaving the hous , what time you leave, etc. dont worry about this, as it happens most of people as we are living in running world .. every one has to go soemwher and want reach on time ...

I am sometimes like you. I have a car and even if I had pressed the remote control I always feel like I haven't because there are times when I found that I did not lock my car. It's the same with doors. Sometimes I feel like I have not locked the door altho I never left the house without locking the door. It's part of the habit of fearing the worst.

What we need is "concentration" or at least presence of mind. Many times I find myself busy thinking of so many things that's why I get unaware of what I'm currently doing.

I feel pitty to those who do like this but they should be aware themselves while leaving the home they has to check each and everything in home once or thrice so that they can feel happy rest of time

It's really a shame to admit it but sometimes I get paranoid about it.

The biggest one I have if you call it paranoia is going back to check that I have locked the car. Not once have I not locked it up to date but if I don't go back and check I almost have an anxiety attack and this is not worth it! There have been a few times when I thought I did not put the remote door to the garage down and even though may be running late to work, I go around the block "just to make sure" and guess what......it is down! Geez then I have more chance of having an accident through running late than these things just not happening!

Hmmm!! Sorry to hear that. I still haven't learned to focus myself. Since I came to the UK I always felt unsure I had locked the door behind me. I would love to have a door where you can't get the key until you lock it. That way there is no mistaking that you had not locked it.

Oh yes, I have done this numerous times. I constantly forget whether I locked the door or not when leaving the house and have come back several times to double check. I am not paranoid about anything else but locking the door is a problem for me of remembering. My roommate has this problem with the iron and whether he unplugged it or not. I always feel it is better to be safe than sorry so I will double check. Very good topic. :-)

Right, I had the same feeling with iron. It happens when I was in a hurry and I had to iron my dress before wearing it. Although I have always automatically unplug it after using but becaus my mind was preoccupied I don't realize what I'm doing. And then when I had left the house I would wonder if I had unplug it or not.

it did happened to me lately but only once ..i have reached the second block which i remmember that door in my veranda was not lock..i ask my daughter on this to confirm and they doubted about it..so that i had to let the taxi go back to our house(and that of course including us)to be sure..and lo! it was not lock..and i guess its not a paranoid thing..its a case of negligence on our part..

Well, actually in my case it happened to be always locked but I couldn't recall precisely if I did lock the door or not.

This happens to mee too sometimes, Sometimes it is just the TV, i go to sleep and start to think i wonder if i turned of the TV and have to go and check and see ah it is closed...and when i carry my money in my pocket, every hour or so i check if i still have it in my pocket. I have no idea why, but it doesn't bother me at all. Its safe to check that everything is ok.

Well, better be paranoid than be sorry. Also I always check that I got the key in my bag. I guess our mind is too preoccupied sometimes. We have to be alert.

Yes, Ive done the same. I am the last to leave our house. so before leaving I have to check on the water, the lights, the stove and all appliances. If really I am not satisfied that Ive checked everything, I really have to go back to be sure. Its not only you and me, there are more.

At least we are making sure of our house safety. Never mind if we have to go back once in a while, at least we want to be sure.

I never had this kind of paranoia. Sometimes I need to think hard if I locked the door or not, but most of the times I know if I did. The only thing I might forget is: did I take my key when I closed the door. I really have to look really good (large handbag) before I find my key.

That thing too and that's what I hate changing bags. I carry different bags on different places so I have to make sure they is with me. Sometimes before locking the door I would fumble for the key first. Sometimes after I had locked the door behind me then I would come to think if I had the key.

I only have one handbag, thank goodness. It's just, I don't always put it in my handbag, sometimes I put it in my jacket, or my jeans, or something, and then I need to look where it is before I close the door. With two little boys, that like to run off, it's not that simple, oh well, we live and learn.

I guess I have ever done this several times when my mind was wandering somewhere and I didn’t put my focus on the keys. When I had gone few meters away, suddenly I became paranoid myself, and asked myself whether I had locked the door or not and then went back to check it. LOL. A restless mind during the way back until I found it was already locked.

It does drive me nuts! But I am now trying to be more focus whenever I leave the house because I don't want to go back again.

oh yes a few years back I was taking some college courses' and took the bus to the junior college. all the while I was just sure I had not checked the gas stove to be sure all the burners were off. so when I got to college I had several minutes so I phoned home and my son laughed yes all the burners are safely off so you must have checked them before you left. I do do such stuff even today lol lol lol

It's good you had someone at home to check things for you. But if you are the last person to leave the house it just makes you nervous all the way through until you have checked yourself that you left things in order. Ugh! I'm raising my two hands up!

That happens to me a lot as well. But not really with the house doors but mostly with the flat iron. Since I sometimes iron clothes before I leave the house, I would doubt that I unplugged the iron after I finish. I would think that even when I already left the house. But I don't go back to the house, because I pretty much am sure that I did. hehe.
