Travel and food!

My two big loves - travelling and food!
When I went to Italy last year I fellin love with the food - I had always been a fan of Italian food but, when you're actually there and it's made so fresh and so much nicer it's amazing and I would love to go back to Italy anyway but for me the food is one of the big factors as to why I would want to go back!
So what I would like to know is which country or place in the world would you like to visit just because of the food? Where in the world would you long to visit becuase you love that countries food and would like to experience it authentically?

The Ethnic Diversity in the US is such that I enjoy the food while I'm there as much as the Travel! Examples-While there,I've Sampled Thai,Sushi,Italian,Mexican,Indian,Chinese,"Traditional" American homemade Thanksgiving Turkey (And the Obligatory nap!),New England Crab cakes,Clam Chowder,and that's not including the Burgers,Pizzas,Hot Dogs,"All you can eat" Buffet Restaurants ,Waffle and Pancake houses,and other "Fast Food" Items available..I've lived and worked in Germany and Enjoyed the regional specialities I tried- Spaetzle,Maultaschen,Kartoffelsalat,(They use potatoes almost as Much as We do in Ireland-I felt right at home with the food there!) I'd probably agree with You on Italy as a good place for an intended culinary visit,though!

I din't realise the German culture used so much potato in their food! I learn something new everyday!! x

I think Hash Browns came over to the US with the Germans-they have a crispy potato and onion "Pancake" called kartoffelpueffer,(very similar)which is Delish with Apfelmuess (Pureed apples)..I do that with the Hash browns ...

hey frankiecesca, give me a hi-five! we have the same two big loves. i love to travel and eating good food. i usually pick my travel destination based on what food they offer. i've been to Bangkok, Thailand for countless times as i just can't get enough of their food. China is another love which i intend to explore in depth these few years. there are just so many cuisines that i don't think i can finish experimenting with just a few trips. and yes, China is where i long to visit as i've heard so much about the food there. cheers ;p

lol - I wuld love to visit china and experience the food too! I imagine it would have so much more flavour than getting outside of the country! x

after visiting Egypt, i must admit i love Egyptian food. Now, i would love to visit Indonesia because i love the food

Ooh thats a bit different - what kind of food do they have? It is spicy as I love trying new spicy foods!

I'm with you Frankie. I would love to go to Italy primarily for the food but also for the rich history and the beautiful weather. It is definitely on my list of places to visit. I'll have to wait until I can afford it.

I t is simply stunning - everything about it is just wonderful! One of the best experiences especially whilst sat looking at the amazing sight of the Colosseum whilst eating a 'real' Italian pizza.
I highly recommend it! I hope you do get to go one day! x
