People with a lot of money

I have wondered why there are people in this world who have an extensive amount of money. What does one person need billions of dollars for? Personally I wouldnt want that much money. You would never have any real friends. They would just be there for the money. It seems kind of a sad life to me...

i have to agree with you. i am so thrifty, i couldnt see myself spending $200 on a shirt or jeans or shoes or purses (i imagine that this is life for wealthy people) but i would like more money than i have now, but just enough to make my life comfortable.

ah yes, comfortable ... but not too comfortable perhaps :) "it's one of my favorite topics ... the downsides of too much comfort." Cheers :)

First of all. I don't know of any one that would really not want that kind of money. But I do think they could use it better. I know if i had it I would give more of it charity than buying 10 5million dollar homes that you will never be able to walk around.

Well, if you gave me a choice between having too much money or not enough, I would definately go for the first one. If you have more money than you need, you can always stuff it under a mattress. But if you don't have enough money to cover your daily expenses, you'll find yourself running all over the place like a mad chicken just to earn a few cents and that's not much fun. However, I guess there are plenty of unhappy people in the world who have lots of money. You're talking about people who probably feel so lonely because they think everyone around them has an insincere movtive of wanting to take all their money away from them. Then again, if you look at the way many of the world's wealthiest people made their money, you'll find that money was not their primary objective. It was the passion to do something that drove them on and the financial rewards came as a result of it. Bill Gates actually likes computers and has all sorts of visions for a hi tech future. Warren Buffet gets excited by his investment strategy. I think his phrase is, "I look at processes rather than proceeds, though I've learnt to live with those too." I guess money just comes to those who are lucky and passionate about what they do.

It is ironic that money can buy a lot of comfort... yet too much comfort is itself an adversity - causes depression etc... it is ironic that lots of money can buy so many things except happiness and perfect security. Comments? anyone?
