destiny...true or just an excuse?

People say our lives have been designed already by God...it's all about fate. Then, does that mean we can simply relax and not pursue anything anymore...anyway, no matter what we do, we can't fight whatever God has destined for us? Please let me know how you think...

Well I think destiny does not stop you from doing your freewill it just happen that when you choose a certain path you'll end up at one destines point. I believe that life has choice and when you choose that point you'll end up a certain destined point in your life. It is still planned out for you and that is where you exercise your free will but still whatever you choose in life God has somehow a predestined endpoint that you somehow have to accept because you chose that path in your life.

Hey, this is a very neat explanation. Something I definitely appreciate. Thanks a lot for your views. Well, this made me realize that although I have my choices, i should be very careful still as it will make or break my future. You resolved my issue here...thanks again!

Maybe true...maybe not. No one really knows only God if there is really a destiny for each of us. It's really a mystery...But I'm really hoping that there is no destiny 'coz it's very frightening to think that no matter how much we try we can never change our destiny...

Yes...it's really scary to think that way. It's like all your efforts will just go yo waste. You know, I just saw this movie HANCOCK, and Cherize Theron said in one of her lines..."Fate does not decide our destiny...We have the power to choose"...or something like that. So, maybe we can actually alter our fate by choosing to do what is right. Anyway, thanks for the response!

Destiny is not an excuse. Just because I believe GOd has a plan for my life, I don't think that means I can just sit back and not do anything. His plan coincides with my decisions and my actions.

Just because your life has been mapped out does not mean that you're not supposed to pursue anything anymore. How can you get to where God has planned for you to be unless you take the steps to get there? I do agree that you can relax though and trust that your future is in the hands of someone wise and loving and that, if you use the tools He gives to you, your life will turn out fine.

I couldn't have said it better than Spalladino! Yes God has a plan for each and everyone of us but it is up to us to pursue that plan. He has prepared us by blessing us with gifts and talents to use in our pursuit, if you are going to sit down and relax and not use these gifts and talents you will not reach to what God has in store for you. You may not worry though (that's the meaning "relax" in this case) because God will see you through just about anything if you ask for His guidance.

Hi mamuzo!! So from what I gathered from your response and from Spalladino is that: (1) our lives have been planned by God, and (2)that's not an excuse for us not to strive hard...that we still need to do what we can to make our lives better.. I actually beleived that, at one point in my life....I totally relied on God and had trusted his ways. Everything was great. Until one day, something changed my life. I blamed it on God's will. I said to myself no matter what I do, these things happened because that's how God wants it. Still, people close to me can attest that I haven't stopped striving to make my life better everyday. I'm just trying to get a confirmation from others, that there's a sense in what I'm doing. Thanks again, your responses did helped me convince myself that everything I do now, all my sacrifices and sufferings will not go to waste. Maybe, the experience I had before happened because there's a reason for it. And whatever the reason is...only God knows.
