Why so many fast food posts on this site?

Why oh why are there people asking about McD versus BK and KFC etc etc ad nauseam on this site? Is this like the trailer trash of the 'net? It's the only conclusion I can draw. No fine cuisine, no gourmet, no cooking to speak of - what is becoming of the world? Or maybe it is all kids here and that is all they eat? But the average age of profiles I see says this is really more a site for the OAP so I really do not know.

People will start a discussion about anything, and asking something like that is an instant easy topic. Asking for a recipe for Grouper Florentine or tiramisu is probably a bit much for some of the people here. Also, I see more and more executive-types pulling out of McDonald's and Burger King these days. A quick meal is a quick meal, no matter what pay scale you're on.

Aha - good point - so this is like the McD of the internet forums, yes indeed the bland sacharine pap feel goes with my other post about why I feel sick here! Makes perfect sense now. As for the executive types - how sad, they should be getting expense lunches and healthier food. Corporate crap culture is taking over the world. Oh dear I am going to depress myself again!

Wow. Perhaps you (mainframeguy) need to step back and realize that you're being a bit of a snob. Not everyone who eats at a fast food restaurant is trash, and not everyone who eats at a fancy restaurant is burning cash.

mainframeguu did you ever stop; and think maybe just maybe all of us are not uyuppie millionaires and we have to buy what we can afford. also we are not all kids,as I am eighty one and I still like a whopper with fries ocassionally, I am not a snob but I have also dined at fine restaurants, but my social security check only stretchs so far. I deeply resent being called trailer trash of the net just because I have responded to a few burger king discussions. I cook about nine tenths of what I eat, and I am quite familar with fine cuisine but again I cannot afford caviar and truffle. Do not be such a snob. a lotof you executive types are seen coming out of Burger king. lol lol lol.

welll.... maybe that is one point - over here McD's is not cheap to my mind - I suspect there may be a pricing differential and perhaps if it were the cheapest place to eat I may be forced there (I am on welfare like you so I do actually understand). But from a stay in the USA there was a diner or two I could go to cheaper than McD's and I would aways choose that first. I am very against big corporate culture and feel they are not great to their employees nor good for the world. You seem to think this is personal to you. Maybe I was wrong about the trailer trash thing - perhaps they eat better then McD's - what would I know? I am neither and exec nor living in a trailer.

Did you look at the number of answers to those discussions? I'll bet there were a lot! Sometimes the most inanane discussions seem to draw the most interest. Go figure! We used to get a lot of good recipes shared, but that fizzled out. Someone said myLot frowned on discussion with recipes, but I don't know for sure. Anyway, keep looking. Some interesting discussions do get posted!

I noticed this too. Probably because everyone is happy to answer and stick up for their favorites. Nothing wrong with that. I can honestly say that at twenty-two I've never had a fine cuisine or gourmet so I don't know what they taste like. From the stuff I've seen on TV it looks pompous but good, lol. I'm used to a lot of nice home cooking, though.
