Do you feel that accidents are random events?

Everytime I hear about a bad accident, I wonder what events and choices led up to it, and whether that accident was truly a random event. I also feel the same way about so-called "happy" accidents, in which we wind up in the right place at the right time. What events led up to that event and what kinds of choices were made? For my part, I don't think that any accident, large or small, is truly random. Before it occurs, a number of choices have to be made, one way or the other. In the end, an individual determines his or her own fate. That is my opinion. What is yours?

Hello scribe1, I agree with most of your comments. The happy accidents are known as syncronicities, and are, basically, little pieces of help given to us by universal intelligence, in order to steer us in the right direction. I do not talk in phantasms and ghosts here, but more in proven and acknowledged physics - the sort that normal folk can understand. If this subject is of interest to you, I can recommend two good sources of information for you, which is uncomplicated, and comes in spoken CD. The first: Dr David Hawkins - The Highest Level of Enlightenment Second : Dr Luanne Oakes - Spiritual Alchemy Both can be obtained from Nightingale Conant at their web site. These are absolutely fascinating. They are deliberately produced for normal people and they do not contain theory or speculation. They will address your opinion perfectly. We should have a chat sometime. Best wishes, GT Guru

I can't say that I think all accidents are 'avoidable.' I think they'd happen regardless, even if it were to someone else or at a different point in time. And sometimes they happen not because of the choices we've made ourselves, but because of choices (good or bad) made by others.

I do feel tht accidents are random. Sometimes our minds become cluttered wiht other thoughts when we should be paying attention and then we wreck the car, fall down, etc.. I think accidents come form other thoughts intruding in our minds when we should be paying better attention.

I was involved in a car accident about 7 years ago where I hit a car broadside that turned in front of me at a light where I had the right of way. I was about a mile from my home and was taking chicken soup to my youngest daughter's father, my ex, who was sick with the flu. My car was totalled but, fortunately, no one was hurt. While I agree that a number of choices had been made...I chose to leave the house when I did and leaving even one minute later would have made a big difference, I chose to take soup to my ex instead of not caring that he was too sick to get out of bed, the man I hit could have chosen not to pull out even though there was a curve in the road and he couldn't see me coming until it was too late...I don't agree that either one of us were responsible for determining our own fate that day. Some cases may be different but, in this case, it was entirely a random event.
