Grants or loans.

I am not totally disabled, but I do have a physical handicap. I am looking for some financial assistance towards helping me start a business. I have heard that some places will give grants for start-up capital to people with handicaps. Has anyone here ever gotten such a grant or loan? I was hoping for a grant, so that I wouldn't be obligated to pay it back, but I would also consider a loan if the terms were right. Does anyone here know any organizations that give business start-up grants to someone with a handicap?

You might want to try contacting the government office that deals with small business administration, if they can't help they might be able to send you in the right direction. Also contact your State and Local representatives. I hope that helps. Good luck!

You might try to speak with upper management where you bank to see if they can offer you any suggestions on where to begin the process. You might also contact the United Way and see what they suggest. Personally, I only know grants are available through colleges or universities to further education. I am sorry I can't give you a direct answer to this discussion.
