What is your "why"?

Now, I know that we all are in business, whether it be online or offline, to make money. But what most people don't know is that can't be your only reason to be in business. It simply isn't a strong enough argument to have against struggling through the first stages of getting your business out there. You have to have a reason, a burning desire to be in business. For me, the reason is twofold. First, I want to be able to watch my kids grow up, not pay someone else to do it for me. I have to provide for my kids, sometimes by myself being a single parent, but for me its not worth it to have someone steal my child's precious moments away from me. I view online business as a way to alleviate that problem. I can earn money without having to go to a traditional workplace, and miss out on my kids childhood. I can set my own hours to work, so that I can be there for my children when they truly need it. I can take off from working my business and not have to report to someone as to the reason why. Second, in searching for the right opportunity these past four years, I've seen that all the big names were names of men. I know that its not only men that do online business, so why is it that there are no women's names alongside of Ewen Chia, Robert Puddy, and Santa Sal? I want to be one of the first well-known female internet marketers. I plan to do this by learning everything I can about internet marketing, and then using that information not to sell to others, but to help them. So, what is your "why"? What keeps you fighting to earn an income online? Why haven't you given up on your vision? And don't feel bad if you don't have one on the top of your mind. You can use discussion as a chance to dig deep down in your soul, and realize what your "why" truly is. It took another person to ask me this very same question for me to realize mine!

I love your argument dpk and this post too..I have a lot of why's in my life..LOL! But, I would like to stress about why is it that a lot of people especially in the position who are not contented of what they have and will continue to corrupt and makes the world or country so poor and poor people more poorer! Why they give promises as to do their best to serve the people but when they are there, they forget all their promises!

hahahahaha..I am too broad and failed to realize the title is limited as to a particular thing..Sorry for that! Anyway, being newly wed, I want to be a full time wife and take care of my husband and our home, I gave up my work and for 8 hours that he is working, I need to have a divertion since I can finish all the household chores in just an hour or 2! So, being online will make me continue to grow as a person and connect myself to what is happening outside. PLus it also help me enhance more of my self-esteem that even I have no work, I can afford to earn a little! Feels great!

HI there drknlvly6781! What a great idea! I had a 'why' just over a year ago. I was at home from work for a month because the firm I worked for had less work and I thought 'why not see if it's true that you can earn online'. I started clinking and landed here in MyLot where I got lots of addvice and then I started earning - and THEn I also got paid from a site too. At that point my 'why' altered to 'why give up now' and I carried on. I decided to get some dollars to spend on a future visit to my sister in USA and I set an amount. Once that amount started building up, yet again my 'why' changed to 'why not keep going and pay for the flight too' I think you can see the rest. There is no end in sight. Now that I am certain it is possible to earn on line I have only one 'why' and it keeps me going. My 'why' is: now that I have realised the potential 'WHY STOP?' As long as it's fun and I'm enjoying it then I shall carry on. Happy posting!

I'm like you...my kids are my reason. I do all these GPT sites and I also do direct sales. Mostly online selling. But I would to be able to take my children and do stuff with them. My husband is the only one working and things arent really going that great with that...so things with me staying home much longer arent looking that great. Hopefully things will be getting better...soon. What do you do? I am doing an online party tonight at my website...if you have something you would want to present...let me know. Maybe I can even set you up for next week or something.

Its funny that you ask and mention GPT sites. What I do is similar to that, but in my program you only have to complete one site and then they show you how to leverage that income to make it residual. You can find out more about it under the first banner on my profile page. I would like to know about your online party. Send me a message about that and I will get back to you.

Independence is my reason. I would like to be able to control my life, not have my work control it. Due to health issues, I can only work from home but know that there is a whole world out there waiting for internet businesses and I just have to find the correct one for me.

Looks like we have the same thing in common. Its like when you have a job, even if its good paying, you don't get to enjoy the fruits of your labor because you are always working. I may be young, but I don't want this to happen throughout the rest of my life. I am glad to have found a business that will help me to control my life, and not let it be controlled by work. Since you are still searching for a business, allow me to present mine to you. I will not explain it here, because of MyLot rules, but you can go to the website under the first banner on the right hand side of my profile page.

My real reason to be online is the interest factor. The money can be important if it becomes substantial but thats not happening now. I enjoy giving my opinion and getting replies and so on. It also gives me a goal and something to do. The money, as I said, will be important if it becomes important but right now thats so little it can't be a major reason, if you know what I mean ?

I understand. Being here and sites like this doesn't bring in even a livable income, but it is interesting to come here and get opinions from around the world. Is there anything you do besides posting here to make money?

My reasons is that I need money, all the people need money, but I don't want to be in an office, with hearing a boss yelling or something like that... receaving comands all the day, I want to be my own boss and manage my own time.

So its independence you want? That is a good reason. Its one of mine as well. For me its not so much the boss yelling at me, when I do have a traditional job I always do my best. For me its the scheduling. I want to work when I want to work. If I want to take off I don't want to have to come up with some excuse so I don't loose my job in the process. So, what is it that you do, besides posting here?

Wow a great question to make everyone think! I'm not in business to make money online. I figure its a "hobby" as so far i haven't made all that much for online things...I'm starting to get paid for other things now. My why for the hobby is something to do...extra "play" money and something to supplement my income so I can get loans and other debts paid off faster. Independence i guess is my big why! I love your reasons why.
