Many of people which enjoy photograph usually subscribe photograph maganizes and visit photograph websites. Those commerical media usually publish advertisements or evaluation compare of some new cameras. So almost every reader want to own an newest professional camera, they thought that using professional equipment so they can take professional photos. That is totally wrong. The crucial factor is your eye which behind the viewfinder. If your eyes can find some thing special;interesting;beautiful and to creative a photo not simply record the photo, even you are using a cheap camera you can also take good picture.

Definitely your eyes, I have seen the best cameras take the worst pictures. I use an Olympus E-500 DSLR, and I decided to use it in my photography class. A girl in my class decided that she would ask me what make my camera was, and then the next day she came in with MY identical camera,, and bragged about how her daddy spent soooo much on it. When her photos were posted, they were the worst ever, I didn't think a camera so good would ever take pictures that ugly. I felt bad for the piece of equipment to tell you the truth haha

Yep..bragging about the expensive camera you have is not much good to You if the results don't speak for themselves!

Definitely your eyes. I've been to seminars where a truly masterful photographer was able to produce stunning results with a disposable camera. Of course, he could have achieved greater things with a good camera, but the fact that he was able to take a cheapo camera and capture a work of art definitely drove home to me that the newest and brightest camera isn't always the answer. Over the years, I've noticed that a lot of people buy great cameras and expensive lenses and can't get half the picture that I take. I'm not a great photographer, by any means, but there are people worse than me with twice the equipment!

Cameras can help a lot but a good picture is more about the subject and how it is framed. I have had cheap cameras and expensive ones. If you look at a picture as something like artwork and can frame it well it really won't matter so much what camera you use. Most of us like to take pictures of kids or sports or flowers, dogs, etc. Newer cameras stop action better but you still have to be able to not cut off someone's head. LOL!

I agree-the best photos are taken by someone with an eye for a picture perfect scene or photo opportunity-the technology you use is secondary to that.An expert photographer will be able to take better photos with a poor quality camera than a person with no compositional skill and a top of the line camera!

Although you must have an eye for photography, I have always been able to 'see' the picture before taking it, and able to see a picture where others might not, the equipment does play a role in taking good pictures. You can take good pictures with just a point and shoot camera, however, you can take much better pictures with a DSLR, you have more options for lighting, lens aperture, and shutter speed, therefore you can optimize the picture you are taking. I have both types of cameras, and although a point and shoot camera is good for most everyday pictures, I love my Nikon D40, and have it with me almost all the time, you never know when there will be a photo opportunity.

Yes, I really agree with you strongly. Is definitely the eyes behind the lens. I have seen many visitors who just like to snap pictures away during their travel. I think the best way is just take the a few pictures and enjoy touring around by capturing how it looks like and how it feels like in our memory.

You should have good eyes for taking good pictures..... It depends on the way you see the world... But still, inorder to capture those beautiful pictures seen by our eyes we require a camera... So a good combination of camera and creativity through your eyes will help you take good pictures...

A fancier, more expensive, professional camera can allow the photographer a lot more creative control. There are some things you just can't do with a cheap camera! And it can be very frustrating when you have an idea in your head of the photo you want to take, but you can't achieve it with your camera. So yes, having a good camera is crucial for a photographer! However, a good camera doesn't make you a good photographer! Having a professional grade camera won't make your photos professional quality! You need the skills to be able to use your camera to the fullest!

First, I think we need to have the pair of eyes that can see things in beautiful way. But then, we still need a good camera to capture nice photo. Example, our eyes can never have the "macro" effect like what the camera can do! We cant deny that sharp and clear macro effect can be achieved if we are using DSLR rather than a compact camera. Thus, I do think camera is a crucial factor in taking a good photo too!
