Those of you who take pain killers have you ever stop to wonder if the pill you take is killing you or saving your life. I ask this because every time you pick up a pack or a bottle there are so many different side effects. so heres the deal it is to relive your pain but here it is you have to look out to make sure it does damages something else. I just don't take them any more i just try to bear the pain until it decides to go away. especialy if its just a headach it live with it. this way i don't have to worry about side effects. what do you do. worry or don't worry the good way.

I do not stress myself out over pain and I have alot of it yet I try to never take any pills. I have pain from: 1:Broken Back 2:Steel Plate in my head 3:Diabetic leg Pain 4:Psyatic Nerve Damage 5: Artheritis 6:Nerve Damage in my shoulders (pinched nerves from dislocations) 7:Severe Migrains from Tramatic Brain Injury (reason for steel plate) and 8:Corporal tunnel in both wrists. So yeah I have a lot of pain and I am actually perscribed very strong pain killers but I do not take them nor any medication, not even my diabetic meds. So I hope that you can get an answer from this as it is rather appairent. HAVE A GREAT DAY!!

I'm not sure why you don't take any of your meds. I probably should not pry. I watched my ex-husband, the father of my son, and my friend, slowly kill himself. He was 35 years old when he pasted. Some meds you just have to take. And Diabetic Medicine is one of them. For your family, for me, take your meds. I can tell you how he past if you like.

I actually got ulcers about a year ago as a result of some painkillers I was taking for my back pain. They weren't deadly just yet, but I couldn't eat for days and constantly threw up. I think that sometimes painkillers are ok, but if you can get by without taking them, do that instead. And it's good to remember that some are recommended (like Aspirin for headaches, because it thins your blood and prevents blood clots).

I don't take pain killers now,I used to years ago. There are side effects when taking pain killers, like liver damage or internal bleeding. All it does is mask the pain without finding out the real cause of the pain. When I have a headace, I just sleep it off,and it is gone the next day.

It depends on the amount of pain I am in....if it is simply a headache first I will have a little caffeine because sometimes that is what your body needs to get rid of the headache...and/or you might be thirsty....Headaches are one of the first signs of dehydration...so I will drink plenty of water....if it it still bothers me and I mean on the verge of a migraine I go ahead and pop an ALeve.... The only danger in painkillers for people are in the use of them...in other words if you tend to rely on them consistently they will not help you because your body as adapted to the medication and you have to increase the MG...which is dangerous because this can lead to overdoses, addictions, and kidney problems... the key thing to remember when taking medications, besides talking to your doctor or pharmacist first, is that anything can be harmful if taken outside of what it is or the amount it suggests to take. Yes, there are side effects...but for people who suffer from constant migraines, backaches, diseases, etc. these side effects are more tolerable.

Yes, I hate taking pain killers for this reason. I'd rather have some pain than put medication inside of me, and that goes for labour pain too, lol! I guess when it comes down to it though, it would depend on how bad the pain was. So far in my life I'm lucky enough to have been able to bear most pain that I've had. Some people must have to endure much worse and I hope that I never have pain that is beyond the level that I can endure. If I did then I would take the pain killers.

Hello esrine Me, I live on them most the time, due to different situations for the last 3 years. I just got checked by the doctor for he was concern, My liver is great. I drink lots of water and a bottle of OJ with lots of potassium, and they say my liver is good. I do not care. To tell the truth, if it will take the pain, more power to the pills. I have done it for so long, I guess, what ever happens happens. If the pill puts me to sleep and not take the pain, then I do not use it, but if I can function and the pain goes, then I do use it. Water for me has all ways been my best friend, while I am on medications. Now, I know everyone is difference, and each body can take more than others or less than others, so I advice do as the doctors tell you, learn your body, and all ways be safe. For you know your body better than anyone else. Good luck with your pain. If you have headaches, do you have it due to your neck. Mine are due to my neck, if it goes out just a bit my head hurts, I then have to twist and move to put it back the way it should be and my head ache goes away. This is the only time, I have a head ache. I guess, I am bless, I am told, now at the moment I am dealing with a tooth ache and nothing is relieving it, no pain pills no nothing. Going back to ER for another shot, for that is the only thing that has helped, and may I say it does hurt, 'the shot' lol, So, I do understand pain. Take care and thanks for asking :D

I've quit worrying about it, since I take so many medications as it is. One of my illnesses will get me eventually, so I choose not to suffer in pain every day just in case my prescribed medication might cause side effects. Although quantity of life is good, quality is just as important to me.

Any medication you take is no good for you. It's a question whether you want to live with the pain or not. Chronic pain should never go untreated and taking pain medicine is only masking the real problem.

I've worried about it enough and decided i cannot do without it. I take it for the pain due to R.Arthiritis. This disease is going to get the better of me or the pain killer is. The only thing I can conciously do is swithch to ones with the least harmful side effects. So now i do not worry about it and am ready to accept the outcome. Cheers

Dear friend, I hope those medicines which gives a sudden relief has much of side effects. Apart from these the having painkillers also do effect the kidneys as excess of any kind of chemicals could create a bit problems to kidneys and if that person a diabetic too I hope it would be in very danger of kidney failure and may a dialysis may be the last resort. Hence I hope that it may be well to avoid any chemical tablets or pain killers.

Before taking Medicines - Consult Your Doctor
Pain killers are not really administered to save someones life. I might have taken your statement literally but here is what I know about pain killers. It is used to alleviate or make you numb of the pain you have or will be experiencing during an operation to be performed on your body. Tooth extraction is also one process where you take pain killers or anesthesia. On the other hand you are correct to say that there are side effects, Gastrointestinal is one of them. You pain threshold might go up making it necessary for you to take larger doses the next time you need it. It can be addictive as well if you take it regularly. Of course it is still best to consult a doctor if you are really in pain and such pain relievers are necessary.
