Big Companies Couldn't Care Less About their Customers

Yesterday Matt wasted a whole day away from work, He works for himself so if he doesn't go and do the work he don't get paid. Matt works hard to make ends meet, sometimes he works 7 days a week, but lately as he got older he gets tired and now will take Sunday off but not always, if he has too much work he will go in on a Sunday too. His home phone is not working there is so much static he cannot hear anyone speak. He called Bell and of course they say they will send a repairman but can't give him a time, other than between 8 and 8. So of course that means he wasted a day from work, as if that is not bad enough, they didn't show up. His problem is not solved he wasted a day at work and he is going to have to miss another day again. You know that is just not right! What do you think?

That was really wrong of the guy for not showing up. I would have called and spoken to his boss over this. I wonder if he could get you to stay at his home for the day that he's expecting someone to come by, so he doesn't have to miss work. When given a time, they should be there. When I'm expecting someone to come and fix something, and they give me a time, it makes me upset when they don't call to let me know that won't be coming. I'm a pain, I will call the company and tell them when is the guy coming, because I don't have time to wait around for them to come, eventhough I'm home 24/7. I end up getting them to page the worker to see where he's at. I do it when my kids school bus is late, I call the county bus system and make them hunt down the bus. I do hope Matt was able to get his phone fixed, I don't think people should have to pay for services that is crappy. They think since you have a land line, you need that. I read that home phone sells are down, since everyone is going to the cell phones.

knowing how sick I am he would never agree to me going over there to wait all day, plus his elderly mom is there and I would be in her way. She has special prayer hours etc.

That's sweet of him to think of you, with being sick and all.

If he had someone he could trust to stay there and do what needs to be done, then he can go to work. I have had to wait on the phone company before. I am waiting for them them bring a box to my house so I will be able to view all the channels we are paying for. But they haven't came or called. When I called they said they sorry they didn't get to it in time Friday maybe by Tuesday. I am not working but that doens't mean I have time to twiddle my thumbs waiting. We are all on a list and they go down that list if they don't get to you in time they are like oh well..tomorrow or the next day maybe.

there is no body for two reasons, 1 - his mother is elderly and doesn't like people in the house, she is afraid of most, 2- everyone he knows works as well so there is nobody that can do it for him.

Yep, had this happen to us with Charter Communications. Our phone service was out 4 days. They kept promising that the problem was "high priority" and someone would be out ASAP. Then no one would show, this went on for four days!!! Good news: We got $53.00 in credit on our bill

and that is what they call high priority, hate to see how long it would take if it wasn't, but at least you got some money back.

I agree that a lot of big companies don't care about customers. Wal-Mart is a prime example. That is our main store here and because it is the only place to shop the customer service stinks. Big companies don't really care about their employees either.

Another case of poor customer service. Some big companies really think that just because they have a certain monopoly in the industry, they can rest on their laurels and ignore the most basic thing, customer satisfaction. They have really forgotten that its the customers that brought them there. Well, I just hope some competitors will come along and take away their pie of their customers with better customer service, so then only they will reflect themselves in the mirror.

the thing is they used to hold a monopoly and now there are several telephone companies but their customer service seems to be at an all time long, go figure!

I am so sick of being treated like crap from big companies. That sounds absolutely ridiculous. My husband right now works for our telecommunications company as a subcontractor installing cable & phones. All day he deals with them screwing up things for the customer & making his job so much harder than it really needs to be. They will tell a customer someone will come between 8-12 for example, and not give him the work order until 1:00. Then, he comes home after a 14 hour day and all he wants to do is watch a little TV before he goes to sleep...guess what? Our cable doesn't work, lol. I call the cable company, tell them it's not working, they say they'll have to send someone. I laugh at them, saying one of their best techs (he really does have the best numbers in the company) lives here and it's not a problem with a house, it's a problem with them & their network. Anyways, I agree, it's not right. And I'm sick of it. It doesn't matter what the company is, it seems like you have to fight for anything anymore.

yep they are so big and unorganized it is terrible, and the last thing they care about are employees, the second to last is there customers, but the first thing they care about is their profit.

I have no time at all for big companies. I got even with the phone company or not showing up, like they did to Matt. I CHANGED MY MIND and didn't tell them!! When they called me to ask if I still wanted the interet hooked up I iformed them that unlimited hotspots were cheaper than their service. When they asked me why I didn't call them to tell them that, I asked them why they didn't show up yesterday!

That is life ~ It stinks! They do what they want- when they want! it's too bad Matt could not switch phone companies. That is what I did- I had no dial tone on my home phone- I called the phone company on Saturday- Nothing- on Sunday! I called back on Sunday and said- I'm switching to digital phone- get this crap out of here and cancel my account. They pacified me- by sending someone right out- (I don't care if the man got double time)- you pay enough for these services. I also got a $20 credit on my account. I think I'm still switching- but not until I see my next phone bill. I hope his phone is fixed now!

Matt could change companies if he wants to, he just doesn't want to, he likes Bell, even after this.

I had the same problem with another phone company, whenever it rained the line got static. I would call and complain, using my cell. They would come out 3 days later after the line dried and there was no problem. They came in the house and said I had no problem. The next time it rained it happened again. A few years ago I changed to Vonage - look Mom, no problem. And it is cheaper too.

I doubt that Matt will change he is a creature of habit, bell is the first system and the only one he works with. He can be stubborn at time that is for sure.

even here in australia rose we have problems with telecommunication companies.i think they are the worst to their customers, especially when they need to fix anything.they are always so difficult to get onto any one there,as it is your just placed on hold .they tell you when they can fix things, not when it is suitable for the customer.they charge us a arm and a leg for these services, but do not want to provide a good service.i think it is just disgraceful.you are so right ot is just not right.cheers sue

Hi rose! I have to agree with that statement. It seems that the bigger the company the worst the customer service. Maybe the problem is, that they have so much customers that they feel they could afford to loose some who knows. It has been my experience that the smaller the company the better the relations with their customers. My biggest beef is with our goverment companies, where i think it is required that their employees have a degree in being rude. I guess they forgot that it's the individual customer that they can credit with their growth.

yep they get so big they think that they can pretty much do whatever they want. The small companies provide better customer service because they cannot afford to lose their customers.

Sorry to know what Matt has suffered from. But such kind of suspension is not only seen in the field of telecommunication but also in other walks of life. For example, when we ask the landlady to send for the repairman to fix the light in the apartment, it is not impossible to hear "I will have it fixed sometime". This is totolly not good to those who are in need of help. People like that just think less of others but focus on theri own interest, which i hate a lot~~ Hope that there will be some kinds of laws or something to lay a restriction on this.

Amen to that. they just want our money and that is about it. We cannot ask them for anything in return even if they owe it to us. I'm sorry that the phone company repair people stood Matt up. that is not right at all. I am used to people doing that to us also. They could have at least told him that they may or may not be there yesterday instead of saying they would between certain hours. It is still not appealing for Matt but they could have been honest about it from the start.

Hi winterose, That is very unfair...They have to pay attention to their clients and be responsive in their complain and problems..I would be bothering them a lot of times in that day if I am in that situation...They can't just let me wait for nothing and I am sacrificing my day.. If they have valid reasons for not attending it right away then they have to be open about it and give specific time really.. I will demand to talk to the manager and raise my disappointment!

we have tried before for different reason, to narrow them down, they say they cannot say because the work order goes out, from the office, the technician picks it up, he does not know in advance if a problem will take 5 minutes work or an hour, he doesn't have a phone in his truck, so he will start at one area of town and of course to the addresses that are closest in that area and just continue, demanding for money back fat chance, they practically laugh at you

Hi Sweet I hate how these companies keep us hung up like that. And because we have no other choises at times we have gto just sit back and hope that they come. No it isn't right but it happens frequently! xoxoxoxoxo

No you are right big companies do not seem to care for their customers. If I was him then I would have given them an earful over the phone about me missing work and I would then tell them that if the work was not completed by the end of the next working day then I would be looking elsewhere. Like you say he will probably have to waste another day of work to wait in again for them.
