one of my favorites is from Lao Tsu: (something like:) "Desire material wealth and your heart will never unclench. Seek the approval of others and you are their prisoner. Do your duty and step back - the path to serenity." Any agrees? anyone disagrees? I like to hear from everyone :)

I love Tsu Lao's quotes...he is a man who understood many things the general mis understood. When I started my semester, I believed in one word sayings that can free a person from negativity instead of reading a whole book...so I came across one of his quotes and it's about one who reads, forgets, one who see, remembers and one who does, understands...not in the exact words, but the same message. What he says, is probably what he has experienced, that is why there's a spiritual path in many creeds. Faith doesn't happen all of a sudden I am sure it's a solution to many desirous souls...it's an elevated level of spirituality, hard to fathom for those who can only believe in what they see.

Thanks for the comment. I agree with the quoted. - those that get involved will truly understand. I agree that if we get immersed into something then we really get to know. It is impressive that Tsu Lao teaches us to feel we do not know even when we think we do. Another interesting quote: "The wise stand out because they see themselves as part of a Whole. They shine because they don't want to impress. They achieve great things because they do not seek recognition. Their wisdom is contained in what they are; not in their opinions. They refuse to argue, so no one argue with them." - Tsu Lao Please tell me what you think. Cheers:)

There are many philosophers I admire... khalil gibran is also quite good, but his poems are quite complex.

I think this is a very viable and attainable concept, though I believe that it is a journey to achieve and maintain serenity. No single mentality or set of choices can guarantee serentity. We must develop serenity within ourselves from a variety of sources and continue to seek new ways to feed the sense of serentity.

Thanks for the comment. Perhaps by exchanging new views we also derive new confirmations that also help us toward a stronger sense of serenity. What do you think of it? Cheers:)
