this last couple of years there seems to be so many children being born with ginger hair (including my little boy) i read that our DNA is changing from two strands to three do you think that the ginger hair is us evolving?

I'd genuinely like to know where you read that Lou! It's a subject that has always fascinated me. I can't honestly say that I've noticed any change in the hair color of babies. I've only seen two newborns in the last year but both were born with very dark hair including my Great Nephew who was born about 2 months ago. It would be interesting to see if there is a trend toward lighter hair though!

Interesting about the DNA...but I work in a daycare and we get new babies all the time, and I haven't noticed the ginger hair thing at all. Most of the recent ones we've gotten in the past year have been very blonde.

Wow is that true I never heard that DNA would change that fast. But, anyway, we as a species, always are evolving and turning out differently within us. But I think evolution may take eons before change is really observed.

i have neither noticed or heard about our changing dna, there is nobody in our familly with ginger hair and i was always under the impression that the gene is inherited. my children dont have it and neither do i but it certainly is intresting to read about the changing dna :)

That is really funny, lou ... I hadn't noticed it! It would be very interesting to see whether there was a scientific reason for this. I'll keep a lookout from now on for red haired babies in the street!
