'Frankfurters' or do you call them 'Ding-Dongs'? Do you like them?

Don't think there's a point yet where you get tired of having frankfurters (some call them 'ding-dongs'..) We boil ours for 5 minutes and then stand in cold water. You can also microwave them or fry them but I find they taste better boiled. Don't think the kids can have enough of them and we mostly have them for breakfast, sometimes lunch or even dinner chopped up and mixed with pasta or salad or fried with tomato sauces and peppers. Do you like them? How do you make yours and when do you have them?

We call them "hot dogs" or "wieners". We eat them fried and on a sandwich or baked with a dish of sauerkraut or with/in baked beans. Our favorite way to eat them is to slit them down the middle - not clear through and not clear to the end - place small bits of onion, pickle and cheese in the slit - wrap a slice of bacon around the hot dog in a spiral so that it covers the slit and holds in the "stuffings" - use a toothpick on each end to secure the bacon and then cook on the barbecue grill. We like to use some barbecue sauce on them while they're cooking, and then eat them on a hot dog bun.

Wieners are not the same things as franks.

We prefer the "all-beef" variety as opposed to the ones make from pork and chicken. The kids like the canned varieties of "Beanie-Weenies".

Not a dumb question at all! Yes, they're like hotdogs, or they are hotdogs but with a bit more flavour or totally depends on the brand. My fave are 'Herta frankfurters'

This is want we call ding dongds - Chocolate cake with filling
We here in the States call them hot dogs and franks, frankfurters, but never have I heard them called "Ding-Dongs. we have a cake that we call a ding-dong. We have cooked the frank on the grill over a campfire on a stick, boiled, fried in beans and franks, in Mac and cheese, fried with potatoes. I lie them best charred almost black over an open fire, put in a bun then add mustard and catchup..

Ding dongs?? I thought those were little chocolate snacks. LOL I eat beef frankfurters and prefer them fried. I have some old fashioned ones in my freezer. With the skin on them. They came from the Schwans truck because it is impossible to find anything but skinless. I'll spend more on a good frank. Oscar Meyer wieners are nasty. I have mixed them with macaroni and cheese. My favorite way to eat them is with mustard and relish. My kids like catsup. If catsup gets on mine it's ruined.

I usually have them for lunch or dinner. I like them on a hot dog roll. My boyfriend loves them so much he eats them at least 3 times a week. He likes to boil them. I like to broil them. I only like them on the roll sometimes with sauerkraut. He sometimes has his cut up with beans. In fact he eats them so much I call him hot dog face!

I always thought frankfurters and hot dogs were the same thing. I just cook them in the microwave. I've found that if you overdo them just a bit, like say cook for 50 seconds instead of 30, they taste better.

I not only like them but love them. There are a variety of different ways you can fix them also. I have never heard a frankfurter called a ding-dong. Learn something new everyday.

Yes, there is a point when you get tired of them! We had them 3 times last week: chili dogs, pigs in a blanket, and with sauerkraut. I didn't mind having them 3 times, but one of the girls reheated some every day, and it got to the point where the smell was making me sick! They are still good, but not every day, lol!

We call them hot dogs. I love them on the grill. My kids will eat them anytime, made anyway. They usually have them in the microwave because it is the fastest and easiest way. We don't ever have them for breakfast. My kids will eat them for lunch and the family may have them for dinner. A restaurant in our area serves them with a gravy meat sauce, mustard and onions. When we have them for dinner, I will either serve them with chips and dip or mac and cheese.

I like to boil them cut them up and have them with mac-n-cheese. My son likes them so I try to have them on hand and make them up for him when he wants them. I like to make them for lunch or dinner it's a quick and easy meal and not alot is required to do this kind of meal.
