My youngest son has asthma and has been sick for more than a month ago with a cough and has been wheezing a lot, he has a neubilizer at home which i give him treatments every day , and are not helping him to get better , it helps him for a little while and since he's a kid he is always active and as soon as he starts running he starts coughing again. I'm going to take him to see a specialist. does anyone have a child with the same diagnosis and is doing something different and is helping your child?

Its very serious to hear sucha condition of your son. Just take care of him that he doesnt do so much of restless things as he does. Give him cold milk it might help. Make him do breathing exercises.

I am also an asthma patient. As far as I remember, I was only two years old then when I've had my very first attack. With asthma, you really cannot run for long periods since the air pathways in your child's lungs are inflammed and producing mucous that prevents air from penetrating to the lungs. It's better that you see a specialist for your child because nebulisation is really not enough to cure the symptoms. Your son may be given corticosteroids by the doctors, a steroid that can ease the inflammed pathways of the lungs. Nowadays, there are lots of meds that can control asthma from attacking once again. Don't worry about your child, just take a good note on what the doctor will tell you about the disease. I wish your son to get well soon.

I used to have breathing problem and I was allergic to dust. Medicines gave only temporary relief. I then tried "PRANAYAM". It is basically breathing exercise. I got relief from day 1. Now I don't have breathing problem and I am also no more allergic to dust. Pranayam helps in making the body healthy and also cures a lot of diseases. It can be done by children of age 3 and more and it is very simple to do.

I used to have an asthma when i was a baby. According to my mom i had difficulty in breathing and almost die of it. What they did was they exposed me to humidity early in the morning almost everyday. I dunno if it will work the same way to your son. But better yet asks for professional advice of a doctor. And expose your son into sports. Especially swimming.

no, i have asthma and i carried an oral when i was in highschool. I usually get chest pains accompanied by the asthma attack. But since i got hooked with swimming the attacks got more and more seldom until Ive finally overcome it. I still have asthma but only if it gets triggered when im crying a lot or when i go to a place where the air is really polluted. though unlike before i just sneeze a lot and get colds when it's too dusty. Before i had to wear a mask everywhere i went. I can't remember what prescription the doctor gave me anymore but if your son does get a little better he should go swimming.. Im only hoping for the best for your son now.. take care.

my daughter has it also. she even got hospitalized when whe was only 7 years old. i used nebulizer to her but i dont use medicine for the nebulizer. i only used tap water for her nebulizer. im not into always using meds for her asthma. if i can only use water ill use it. anyways, its effective to her. after she was hospitalized she didnt have her asthma attack again. once in a while. but not when she's in college maybe because she got over with it. like what our elders telling us, they will get over it if they ages. she dont use her nebulizer anymore, thank God!

When my little guy gets sick he starts to wheeze pretty bad. Something i find that really helps is a humidifier helps to keep the lungs moist. Another thing is when it is cold outside take him out there the cool air really helps out alot. Once he was wheezing so bad in the winter that I got him dressed to take him to the hospital because it was so bad and it was so cold outside by the time we got to the hospital he had stopped wheezing. So know I just get him dressed and sit outside with him only if it is cold. I have asthma and the heat usually triggers it for me. Try to dust more and vacumn more often and anything that has a strong perfume smell will also trigger it. Hopefully as he gets older he will grow out of it that happened to my older son he had really bad asthma when he was small but now he doesn't even need an inhaler. Good luck and I hope something works for him.

My son also has asthma. It just scares me a lot to see him panting for breath but so far, he seems to be able to carry out himself. He has become strong willed because of that and never lets the thing cause him to be discourage. I think your son might be able to cope with that in time. Hoping for the best of our son's health.

Have you tried dusting and vacuuming all the time to help remove the dust from the carpets and air? That may help cut down on other irritants that are hurting his lungs.

i can only tell you some of the things i have done that have really helped. my son has mild asthma just to let you know what i am dealing with. he also has alot of food allergies and some grass and tree allergies as well as dust. i put the dust free pillowcases on his pillows and that helped. i suggest getting some books on vitamins & minerals, herbs and homeopathic remedies. all i can say is that all these combined have helped my son immensely and without side effects and jitteriness. in addition i try very hard to make sure he does not get sick in the first place by frequent hand washing, and using a nasal spary called XCLEAR which is hard to find but works great (again no side effects) and you can get it at health food stores or vitamin shoppe sometimes carries it. ask if they don't have it and perhaps they can order it for you. upper respiratory infections always kick off his asthma so staying well in the first place is the best defense. he is 7 and does not yet know how to swallow a pill form of a vitamin so all the vitamins i get him are chewables or liquid and they taste really good so there is no problem getting him to take them. good luck.

I have asthma my self and have had it since I was a child. Have you taken him to an allergist? On thing you have to understand about asthma is that if you have allergies it can make your asthma act up. Talk to your doctor and see if he cant refer you to an allergist and see if your son has any allergies toward anything. If he does theyll out him on allergy medison which will help with his asthma. Also like the person before me said try vacuming more and dusting.
