Update on my broken truck window mystery

My husband took my truck to have the window replaced on Tuesday and afterwards, while the guy at the glass shop was cleaning up the remainder of the broken glass, he discovered a very large rock on the floor of the passenger side, partially under the seat. So, apparently the clear area in the center of the window was an optical illusion since it was just starting to get dark and was really a big hole made by the rock. My husband scraped the side of the rock and the residue matched what was on the inside of the driver's side door. So, someone REALLY flung a rock at that window and it bounced off the driver's door and landed on the passenger side floor. No one is mad at either my husband or me...it's a small town so we'd know... and nothing was stolen out of the truck so we think it was local kids playing around. Just let me get my hands on the little buggers...I'll give them $208 worth of an a$$ whoopen...as they say around here.

Well I'm glad you got it figured out but sorry the repairs cost so much. Kids just don't think when doing stuff sometimes. Let's just hope they learned their lesson from it!

Thanks Sunnflr. I hope whoever it is has heard by now who's truck was hit and is shaking in his/their boots because either my nephews will knock the crap out of him/them or the Sheriff, who's related by marriage, will gladly lock 'em up!

LOL they probably are. Especially if it was kids. Maybe it will scare them enough that they'll think twice about doing something like this again.

spalladino hi yes that sounds like little thuggee kids and a big old rock.I would love to see you find the culprit and put him over your knee, he might think twice before throwing another rock at a car.this reminds me of some teen age kids who got made at the library staff because they were being loud and really rowdy and bothering people trying to workon their laptops. so they were thrown out of the library. i guess in their pea brains they thought they had to do something mean to the staff. so one day two of our staff had their windshields broken by a rock, next day three more so the police set up a spotter in a place where the kids would not see it and caught them on videotape, and they recoginized the two kids by police pictures as they had been in trouble before vandalizing peoples cars by keying them.so the idiot kids got thrown into jail for awhile.

I don't know why some kids think it's acceptable to be destructive like in your situation and in mine. They have no concept of the value of other people's property. I would love to catch who did it and make them do all the yard work we don't really want to do because it's been too hot.

Thank goodness the mystery was solved, I was worried you were going to be abducted by aliens. They pick small towns you know. Only kidding, it must be a relief to finally know it was not anything sinister.

Hi there Squirt! Yes, I'd love to find out who did it and maybe we eventually will since Mandy and Reed know so you know all of the teenagers in town have heard about it by now. Larry's nephews and his son...and Joey too...would love to get their hands on whoever would do something like that to me. Larry...maybe...but Meeeee??? No way!

You are probably right. That happend to me quite a few years ago. I got up and was leaving for work when I had a big hole on the drivers side windaw with a big rock inside the cart. I dont have any enemies. Atleast I dont thinks so. Just some kids out thinking they are having fun. It tyrned out other cars in the area had been hit also. This fun causes people lots of headaches, money and some people could get hurt from the broken glass. I wish kids would just think a little before they act.

Same here. That little bit of fun caused us the inconvenience of having to have the truck repaired, not to mention the expense.

Wow, I guess you're kinda glad that the mystery is solved but, not at that price. That's really too bad. There really isn't anything that you can do about it. I know how aggravating it is to think that some brats just felt like throwing a rock at the truck for no damn reason you have to pay over $200 for it. Nothing is safe these days. No matter where you go you just can't rest easy. At least you and your husband weren't hurt. That's the only good part of it.

You're right, by the size of that rock, if it had gone through the window with one or both of us inside, we would have been hurt. We also lucked out that it didn't continue in a straight line but dipped so it hit the inside of the driver's door instead of going through that window, too.

At least you know what happen now that is something though. It's good that nothing was stolen and it may have been kids playing and ran when the saw the damage done to the truck. Now you know what happen and that is the good thing. The window is fixed and now you can move on. Have a good one.
