I am wanting to get a new camera. I currently have a kodak easyshare z740 and i just love it. Im ready for a new faster camera. I would like to one day start my own business in photography but i still have a lot more to learn. my camera takes instant pictures it has no delay and thats what i love about it. It seems like every camera I look at has a delay to the photo. I dont like that. Im allowing up to $1500 for a new camera and if I spend that much i expect it to do what i want. If I take a picture of a girl spinning I want to get her in midspin not a half sec after. I would just keep mine but It doesnt take good pictures at night nor does it take good pictures in a church. I dont like it when my camera cant keep up with me. If anyone has any suggestions let me know.

Hello clntigger..... As a former professional photographer...spend your $1500.00 dollars on an SLR (single lens reflex). Get yourself either a Pentax, Canon, or Nikon.(They still make these in film format believe it or not, besides digital.) These cameras are built for types of shots you want to take. Any of these will give you complete control over your shot, by allowing you to adjust the lens' f-stop opening. If you DO decide to go with film rather than digital, a higher ASA rating is what you'll need. 200-400 ASA is good enough. The higher the ASA, the faster the film, the more sensitive it is to light. Use the 200asa for general stuff, the 400asa for your freeze-frame & night shots. If and when you become proficient with your settings, you won't need a flash when using the 400asa. Keep smiling, and good luck with your choice. Contact me personally if you need more info. Cheers; commanderxo

All point and shoot digital cameras have a delay! The only digital cameras that do NOT have delays are DSLRs. They are instant! If you are serious about pursuing photography as a career, then a DSLR is a must! Fortunately, you can get a great DSLR for under $1500! In fact, I know you can get a Nikon D40 with a kit lens for under $500! I would shop around for different models, but I would highly recommend either a Nikon DSLR or a Canon DSLR!

I would agree with the others and suggest you look at a Canon or Nikon DSLR. Both have excellent entry level cameras for under $1,000. You could then apply the balance of you money to buying a good lens. I would suggest that you check out http://www.pcphotomag.com/cameras/still-camera-reviews--comparisons/top-d-slrs-under-1000.html and go to www.dpreview.com and read their reviews on cameras. Good Luck

I would say to start out start with a low grade SLR. Either the Nikon D70 or Canon Rebels are great starting cameras and once you start making a lot of money move up to more expensive nicer cameras.
