An Ohio judge dismissed falsification and perjury charges that were filed against Michael and Sharen Gravelle. This is the couple that put their children in cages to sleep. Of course the couples lawyer this will make it easier for the rest of the charges they face. What the H*ll? Does this make you as angry as I am? I hope the judge gets over turned. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080810/ap_on_re_us/caged_children;_ylt=Ak_9DjMySxyvSYNw32QvxLVvzwcF

That is just crazy! They did the crime they should do the time. What kind of message is this sending to others who have thought to do this? Hey yeah we can do it and get away with it, is what it is saying. I would never do that to a child. I mean for goodness sake why a cage why not just lock their door? What would have happened if they been a fire? Would they got out in time? And if no would they been charged with their murders then? This is only going to make kids even more afraid to come forth when thins like this happen and it makes me mad to know that..Kids should be safe and home should be the safest place for them. These kids will seriously need counselling.

Did someone buy the judge off or what? Why make it easier for the rest of the charges they face for gosh sake? They should charge them with everything they have done, not let them off on any of them. What is wrong with this world? Lets start with STUPID judges and go from there!!

Yes it does make me angry. Sometimes "Justice is blind" really does prove itself to be a true statement. I do understand the need for justice to be unemotional and facts/precedent based but we are talking about putting children in cages here?? There is no doubt that the fact that these charges were dismissed against this couple will be dangled like a carrot in front of every jury from this point on. This just goes to prove that what is right or wrong is ultimately irrelevant; it all comes down to who has the best lawyer.....

I don't know if you can overturn charges being dismissed. I just don't imagine that can work. You can overturn a conviction, but I don't think you can overturn a dismissal of charges. I think it is some sort of double jeopardy thing.

Unfortunatly our justice system doesn't go by what they did or if they're guilty or not. It goes by which lawyer can do a better job. I'm sure the defense lawyer had a good argument against these charges that were thrown out. The system needs an overhaul so that things like this don't happen anymore. If a person can be proved guilty, that's all that should matter.

Another injustic done by the court systems. This people need to have every thing possible used against them. And for their lawyer to say that "it just makes one less hurdled to jump over" is just even more wrong

I was living in Ohio at the time this first hit the news. It seemed like a horrendous situation that never should have continued as long as it did with social workers visiting the home supposedly. I understand the frustration of dealing with these extremely unruly children and the issues involved. But if you can't deal with them, then they have to be removed from the home into a place that can handle the children. I've seen therapeutic foster children that punched holes in the walls, destroyed bedrooms, had to have door alarms as they roamed all night long. It's tough. But you admit you need help. I hope they don't win their appeal.
