The Sounds of Silence

Silence all around, Blue skies above The clouds move slowly by The Sun shines down with its Love A gentle warm breeze Flowing though the trees the birds and butterflies On the wing fly by The grass growing green and Soft beneath our feet Flowers in full bloom Crops of wheat, Barley and Corn Now being reaped and harvested Streams, ponds rivers and sea Ripple in the wind Giving time for the Earth to grow Mother Nature is showing her calm Can we stop our busy lives And amaze at the peacfulness All Around To hear, be still and Listen to the silence all around This is a small poem that I wrote just before Lammas the other week and wanted to share with you all...but to turn this into a discussion does anyone here ever take time out to listen to the sounds of silence if you do how does it make you feel afterwards or being close to nature to recognise thes things and see the wonder around us all...

I am standing on the South Downs watching that view. I am transfixed by that image. I shall return when I have found what I am looking for.

That was a good poem littleowl! I believe you are a natural poet. I can't remember the last time I also wrote poems for my sweetheart . I actually become inclined to becoming a poet when I fell in love with the love of my life which now is my wife . I tried to woo her by sending her love letters and simple poems. It was just easier for me to express my feelings in writing than in person. However, I stopped poem writing the moment I got her sweet yes. I hope I can do it all again but the words don't come to my mind anymore. I hope you continue to write some more and maybe you can have it published later on. Keep It Up! SFC

Thanks Muelitz poetry is such a good way of expressing yourself and is sentimental when meant for one person I expect your wife will keep your poems always..my daughter has told me that she will get my poems publeished when am no longer here!! I laughed at her and said 'you always get famous when you die!' which is actually quite true but it would be nice to think thee would be a possibility of doing that while here Blessed Be littleowl

Hi Littleowl, That is beautiful! No I can't say I listen to the silence all around, but I do enjoy the peace. Yesterday it was very windy here, I was at my front door looking out and my wind chimes were just a singing. I LOVED it! ~Icy~

Hi littleowl...this is a beautiful poem and is obviously written by a person....you...who can appreciate nature's simple pleasures and beauties that I think too many of us take for granted. I'm primarily a nature and scenic photographer and gives me a good "excuse" geared up with my camera equipment to be outdoors and photograph nature while looking like I'm "working"...hehee. I did my own discussion about how wonderful it was to hear the first chirping of the crickets near where I live.

Thanks ljean i have been writing poems and verses for quite a few years now but wanted to share this with you all as it shows how busy we are in our lives and most of the time dont hear or see the wonderful world around us and the silence...I tend to spend time in nature and hope the imagery you get is a peaceful one bright blessings littleowl

That's one beautiful poem, my dear friend. Last Monday, I was visited by a friend, and we stood up on the South Downs at Devil's D*ke for a while, watching the World go by. Autumn colours were beginning to show and all was silent, bar the humming sound of the wind blowing through my hair. So, yes, I often listen to the sound of silence... not only on the hills but on the shore, in the woods and beside moving water. I can hear the tree spirits talking to me and the voices on the wind and in the water, and I feel free. Going back to last week, as I looked down to what used to be the expansive forest called Andredswold, I imagined the wooden carts being driven by the Saxons, and the pigs being herded across the ridges. I felt at peace and at one with nature and my ancestors, and your poem brought all this back. Thank you so much for sharing. Brightest Blessings my dearest friend. xx

Sometimes, the silence tells us more, so much more, than the loudest words my dear friend! xx

Darkwing it is so good to hear from you after all this while!! Am glad you liked my poem and that it brought back all these images and feelings...it so lovely to just be at one with nature and to listen, to hear the sounds of the wind the birds and the all that is quiet yet known..to feel the peace it brings. Hi littleowl, Your poem is so beautiful and I love it, yes I love the sound of silence and that is why I love to go to the woods and just watch nature all around me and just notice what mother nature is done for all of us and most people don't even care or notice. Thanks for the sound of silence. Bright Blessings. Tamara
