I was thinking about which sport would be the toughest physically and mentally... and I can't help but think those gymnasts are crazy!! They go through some of the most strenuous workouts ever... and put their bodies in compromised positions all the time! So, what do you think??

I have no idea which one would be the hardest on the body. But, having a daughter who was in gymnastics in school, I know the training is very strenuous. It is a sport in which you can get hurt very easily. When my daughter did the bar, which is only about 4 inches wide, I would flinch! But she got hurt doing a floor exercise. She came down on her foot wrong, injuring her ankle. From then on, she had problems with that ankle. It was very weak, so she had to quit gymnastics. But I love the sport to watch. They are very brave girls and boys that go out there and train day in and day out to compete.

Yeah those girls are truly risking their bodies out there!! Some of the things they do on the vault and uneven bars just amaze me!! I mean, if they have one misstep, they could really injure themselves!!

Those going on the uneven bars just amaze me. They spread their body out like they were butterflies! But it is pretty to watch.

I would have to say water polo as the toughest sport in the Olympics. I have never played myself, but you have to tread water for a long period of time, while being clobbered by opponents. It is basically lacrosse in the water. It is tough and you always see athletes completely exhausted after playing. i also think gymnastics, weightlifting, and curling, all of which I have seen and they look extremely hard.

I think that the hardest sport, which I just discovered this Olympics, is handball. They have to be agile like soccer players, run really fast, and throw the ball like in baseball or softball. I never had seen anybody playing handball until these games, and because I was bored, I just decided to watch it. Now I'm addicted.

I think the boxing event of the olmpics is the toughest sport in the history of the Olympics. It is not only physically challenging but also mentally very stressful. The contestant should practice very hard for 6 whole months to stay there in the ring for 6 rounds . See the toughness in the sport for yourself and see with the above example!!!!
