More than 93 percent of homeowners consider their neighborhood safe, and 78 percent are not afraid to walk alone at night. Do you feel comfortable walking in your neighborhood alone after dark?

The neighborhood that I live in now is a lot safer than the ones that I have lived in before. A house we lived in for 14 years was a very bad neighborhood. One of the top 10 dangerous neighborhoods in the US, at one time we were number 4. You didn't want to go to certain streets and there were certain ways you greeted each other and certain ways you didn't. I wasn't afraid to live there and actually miss certain parts of the old neighborhood, good or bad it was home. I haven't found any place like that since we had to move. Moving wasn't an option when we left, our house was condemned by the city after a tree fell through the roof. Gotta love termites.

Hi Kelly, I think my neighborhood or country for that matter is quite safe. In fact, it is one of the safest places on Earth. That said, we still have crimes. People get raped, robbed, killed whatever but the statistics are thankfully on the low side. I do feel relatively safe walking outside at night when compared to other countries but I still remain wary and keep on the lookout. It's MY safety so I have got to be concerned. Cheers!

I currently live in the country in the middle of nowhere, so I do not really have neighbors. I have no problem being outside after dark. It is pretty dark though, so I normally bring a flashlight out with me.

I live in a really safe neighborhood, but I still wouldn't walk by myself after dark. That has more to do with the fact that I can scare myself silly with any little noise I hear. There are more and more people moving into the sub-division behind us. We don't know them and my husband would never let me walk after dark on my own.
