I'll continue to stand by my belief that Sarah Palin, governor of Alaska, is the best possible pick for VP. She brings youth, popularity (highest approval ratings ever), executive experience, female voters (especially jaded Hillary supporters), and eye candy to the ticket. You may scoff at my mention of eye candy, but I can assure you, Obama's appearance is a big asset and McCain's physical appearance has hurt him throughout this campaign. That said, I really don't think he's going to choose her. I think the next best choices would be Mitt Romney or Joe Lieberman. Lieberman would be a big risk since it could bring many independent and liberal voters, but also risks alienating the most conservative supporters who may turn to another candidate like Barr. I think his most likely choice is my least favorite, Tim Pawlenty. I don't think he's a bad guy. I just think he'll do absolutely nothing to address McCain's weaknesses or bring more voters to his side.

You'd think so, but no. I've really been a Palin fan since I first researched her months ago after McCain won the nomination. She was barely a blip on the radar at the time, but I researched every possible candidate closely and felt she could be the one to put him over the top. Now that he's chosen her I've been joking and telling people that he took my advice not only picking her, but in waiting till Obama had made his choice so he couldn't pick Hillary to counter. McCain also did an outstanding job of hiding his choice. Obama's camp was sure his pick would be Romney or Pawlenty and hey, I was fooled too. Oddsmakers had Pawlenty with an 85% chance at being picked the night before he made his choice. Romney was 2nd with 13% and I think Palin was 5th with 0.38%. I'd be a rich man if I bet on politics. I'd predicted Biden too, but he was probably the most likely choice by oddsmakers anyway.

I think there is no doubt that Mitt will be the VP, I don't think that there is anyone else that has the name, and experience that will help him win. Romney has great experience in econmics, and has lead a democratic state as govenor. But, Mr. Romney has alot of political issues, and he also is a mormon which could hurt his conservative base. Romney also has said alot of bad things (of course they are accurate?) about McCain in the primaries, and hasn't been around much at all helping McCain lately.
