I've been procrastinating about getting started on my knitting, maybe now that summer is winding down, I'll find some motivation. Of course an Indian summer (is that term even politically correct any longer?) could extend my beach-faring weekends . I've already begun making some jewelry pieces with autumn in mind. Some are summer (greens w/ amber browns) that transition well into Autumn, while others are browns, oranges, yellows, and reds. I'm looking forward to starting a few Halloween polymer clay creations in a couple of weeks, but right now I'm concentrating on Autumn pieces. Autumn-type items seem to be already selling on Etsy and I've already sold a handful of pieces over the last week. I'm patiently awaiting a couple of bead orders and my s/o is waiting on more drill bits for the dremel, so he can drill some of our most recent finds from the beach. So what about you, are you planning on creating anything special for Fall? Maybe a fun little craft for Halloween? Perhaps a craft show or two?

You are so busy all the time planning for the different seasons and making all kinds of jewelry and other items. Sure wish I had your talent. Some people got it, some don't...lol Am still working on the afghan for our daughter's new baby girl who should arrive here in a couple of months. By the time I am finished, it will be big enough to cover an 80 pound baby! Have had the itch lately to get back to plastic canvas and make some new items. Want to make a bank using a plastic coffee can for the new baby's room. Am thinking in terms of Sesame Street. The first item is always so difficult to start. Generally I make a sample so in case I goof it can be corrected before the item is ready to sell. Don't have any plans to do craft fairs this fall as of right now but that could change. Once you are finished with the beach project(s), will you post it on Etsy? Would love to see your finished project.

Afghan - Afghan I am knitting for our new grandbaby.
I love reading your discussions about crafts, what you are making, what's on Etsy and what you take to craft shows. You are amazingly talented. I'll try to load a photo of the afghan but it was shortly after I started so it's much longer now. I knitted both sides and it looks better than knit and purl. Good luck with your craft shows, carolbee

Your afghan looks fantastic, I love the colors and pattern! I wish I had the patience to make something so wonderful. There's something so special about creating a family heirloom, something that will get passed down from generation to generation! I received my bead order yesterday and had to run out to AC Moore's last night to pick up some new copper components for the bracelets I'm going to make. I'm hoping to get started later tonight on a couple of new pieces. My goodness, there seem to be an awful lot of craft shows this fall and winter. I've been invited to do several shows, but I know I can't fit them all in. I know I can't possibly keep my show inventory a the levels I'm comfortable with if I take on too many shows (I can almost do at least one show every weekend from the 2nd week of Sept to the 3rd week of Dec... several weekends I could do 2 shows) I'm happy with my current schedule right now, with 1 show in Sept, 3 in October, 2 in Nov (and that will probably turn into 2 craft shows and 1 home show) and 2 in Dec. Between some of the custom orders I often receive around the holidays, trying to keep my Etsy shop stocked and my craft show season, I think I'll be pretty burnt-out by the end of the holidays. Thanks for sharing a picture of your beautiful afghan!

I hope we get to see a picture of your afghan soon, it going to be a great keepsake for your grandaughter and so will the bank! I just love all these recycled projects that everyone is doing...how wonderful! I have been a bit busy lately. I've started increasing my inventory for the fall/winter craftshows and my s/o had a couple supply catalogs shipped to me and I ent and ordered over $50 worth of beads, semi-precious stones, and wire (to try my hand at wire-wrapping...again) So I'll be all set for Autumn, Christmas and even Valentine's Day. I even have some authentic red sea glass coming in from Puerto Rico and I'm hoping to make a couple of jewelry items for Valentine's Day (maybe Xmas too!). Some of my items will go into my Etsy shop, other will be kept for a few of my local customers that aren't quite as computer-savvy. I do post some of the items here on myLot and also in my blog (a few of my local customers check out my blog to see new items and to find my show schedule)I try to post new items in my blog. Some go into my Etsy shop at a later time, others don't get listed right away. Taking my Etsy items to a show is tough because many of them are one of a kind (especially the sea glass) so I have to take down my whole shop for each show, Keep track of what Etsy items have sold and then have to put what's left back after the show. My show schedule actually keeps me from adding new items to my shop the weeke before a show and I try to keep my Etsy shop inventory to less than 40 items during craft show season. I'm looking forward to the fall/winter craft show season (but I bet ya by the middle of November I'll be looking forward to the end of the season...) I love all the Autumn and Holiday crafts and enjoy when my s/o comes with our sons. I can take them for a walk around the show and look at all the great items while he watches my table for a while. Please post an image of the afghan and the bank when when you finish! Thanks for your response.

The things that I am working on for Halloween are 17 halloween Costumes! There is a Mortal Kombat Series that consists for Scorpion, Sub Zero, Smoke, Reptile, Noob Saibot, Raiden, Kano, Mileena, Kitana, Sonya Blade, Sindel, Frost, Jade, and then Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy, and then 3 characters from A Nicktoons show called Avatar or something like that. So those are my plans, and I have a bunch of a lot of the costumes done, but only 2 costumes fully complete! it's very stresfull sometimes! But it gets easier and faster as time goes on!

17 costumes?? Wow, that's a huge project ! And here I thought making a bunch of bracelets was time consuming...lol You should feel a large sense of accomplishment when you complete this project. I'm in awe just thinking about it. I hope you can share a couple of images with us as the costumes become finished!! Thanks for responding and best of luck in this project!!

AH! Well I can share ONE picture, this is Scorpion! Sub Zero is finished as well, but I haven't had a chance to give him his costume and take pictures of him yet, so maybe after I see him I can post pictures! Thanks for the encouragement and your interest it really means a lot!

Scorpion - This is Matt as Scorpion from Mortal Kombat. I used all knit fabrics and the shin guards are cardboard covered in fabric and the face mask is an old paintball mask. I used interfacing in the shoulder pieces to make it stay up better though you can't tell in this photo
Here is the photo.

Wow, you're way ahead of me! I just received a glass bead order with a lot of red beads that I'll use for Christmas items, but that's about as far ahead as I looked... My s/o has been collecting beach glass for me and he showed me how he's going to drill a few of the smaller pieces for me to use as a pendant/necklace. He's found a few pieces of green and red and he's going to drill them for me to stack, making them look like a Christmas tree with red lights and a little white piece at the top, as the star. He's a bit concerned some of the smaller pieces my not stand up to the drilling and I may need to use a couple of glass beads to finish the top of the tree, but I think it will turn out wonderful (I'd like to keep it for myself...sssh, don't tell him ) I always found a great sense of accomplishment in selling something I created (I still do, I just love when someone comes to my craft table and say they love my items- even if they don't buy anything, it's great to hear the compliments!) Getting paid for your creations makes you an artistic designer and I hope we get to see a picture of your creations before they go to their new homes! Thanks for responding!

I love autumn and do more during that season than any other. I generally go to the fair and festivals. Then there is Halloween; which I love to decorate for. My friends usually have a party for grown ups on Halloween. Great fun. When I was growing up we would can veggies, and make preserves from the fruit we had. Most of the festivals that I go to now during autumn are about harvest. Music, food, dancing and seeing friends. It's so much fun. Show us the pictures when you get it all completed o.k.?

I'm doing a couple of Harvest festivals in the fall, along with a couple of shows the weekend before Halloween. One of the shows is called the handmade faire and there will be between 30-40 members of the EtsyNJ street team doing the show. The promoter has asked all the sellers to wear a Halloween costume for the show. This show should be a lot of fun... I should have plenty of pictures to post to everyone!

Well I am actually at the moment knitting a baby blanket, I have knitted one before and sold it online. Though this one is twice the size of the other one I did. I am doing a practice one first to see how it turns out then I know if it looks OK. I also have a few cross stitch projects to do as well and I sell them when they are done, I have been behind with them recently though.

I admire the patience of everyone who knits. I knit scarves and hats, which takes some time to complete, but nothing near the amount of time that a baby blanket takes. Plus handmade baby items are just so adorable and you know that they haven't been sitting in a warehouse or a store's backroom for months, collecting dust. I hope we get to see a picture of the blanket when it's done...ya never know, someone from myLot might want to give your blanket a new home! (my neice is only 8 months old )

Great timing! I just cut a bunch of old bottles up and will be filing down the edges. I plan on getting together some windowsill gardens for my etsy shop for the fall. They seemed to do well this spring and interest in the one I have listed currently has perked up a good bit. We'll see! I've also had business cards printed up and have been sending them to teammates to hand out at the craft shows they're going to. Your bracelet is lovely! Hope your autumn sales go brilliantly.

Etched Container - This is a container I made from an old wine bottle. I cut the bottle, rounded the edges, and etched it with four, thick, wavy lines. It's being paired with some Teddy Bear sunflower seeds (a dwarf variety) in a kit.
I got really excited about one of my finished kits today and forgot to post it in the discussion I started about it! Here's a picture of it, for ya!

Where do you live? I might be able to find a few local shows for you. You can find bigger shows at Craftlister.com. You need to be a member, (I'm not) but you can always find plenty of info by looking last yrs shows. Usually the same promoters are running the show and you can get their contact info from the previous year's listing. I just picked up some cool amber beads that are shaped like little pumpkins. I can't wait to try to make a Halloween piece with them! Thanks for your response!

Not this year. Usually I do but I am working on a book right now. I will do a craft show nearer to Christmas but that's the only one I have scheduled right now.

Well unlike you, I'm not at all crafty..lol. I never was, my sister is, she can make all kinds of things, and come up with stuff. I always think I can, I like this time of year too, I like all the fall colors, and I try to decorate my house for the fall and Halloween and Thanksgiving seasons, I'm always buying fall color flowers at the store and try to make arrangements out of them, but most of the time, they don't come out like I want them too, but I try...lol. Have a good day
