My friend has been making money through writing articles and reviews. She decided to take the big plunge and has been writing a children's book. it is finished and now available through lulu. the title is A Garden's View: A Perspective on Life. the point of view is the garden itself. from the plants and flowers to the weeds. similar to watership down being told from the rabbit's point of view. there are worksheet word puzzles, drawings, clip art, and story questions. i think people of all ages would enjoy this book. i've read it and i think it's excellent. a sweet book for any child age 7 and up. something you might enjoy reading to your children, too. great, very different gift for birthdays or holidays. if you are interested, please PM me and i will provide the link within lulu.

I just read your email, SAM, and I think it sounds like a great book. Unfortunately, I don't have anyone that it might make a good gift for.

That sounds like a neat idea. My sisterinlaw is a children's book author and has written three books in a series, although I dont think the last one got published. It is hard to be published. I wish your friend good luck with the book and I hope that everything goes well with the publishing of it. It sounds like a cute concept.

well, you are totally correct that it takes a long time to find a publisher. lulu has a section where you can publish yourself. i've always be fascinated at how long some of the best books went around being rejected !

Sounds interesting. I don't have anyone in that age range, though. I've heard good things about Lulu. It's good that your friend is having success with them.

Good luck to your friend, MommaSam. I have a friend who has three books, I think, published through lulu. From what I understand, one of them just got picked up by someone else, and it will be listed on Amazon. I am working on a cover for one of his books. Hopefully, that one will be picked up, as well.

I work in pen and pencil. This particular one will be an ink drawing.
