Gas or electric range?

Which do you prefer? I have used both, and much prefer electric. It seems I have more control over the heat setting, it cooks more evenly, it is easier to clean, you can set things on the stove when not using it and the knobs are on top to keep children from grabbing them and turning them on, making it safer with children in the house. Most people I know seem to prefer gas, and I feel like I'm in the minority here. So, which do you prefer, and why?

Well since electricity here is very high, I still prefer cooking on Gas ranges. I know it's dangerous but back in the time when we use electric stoves it was too costly because we have to wait for a long time for it to heat up and in the process our electricity bills just get higher. Well I think the new electric ranges could save on electricity too maybe it's just hard for me to use it.

I think gas is better, instantly controllable. Electric hobs to me don't seem to react quick enough and baking is far better by gas. Also its cheaper too, and for that reason I've bought a hob top kettle (its like being a kid again when I hear it whistle)

I prefer electricity but it dangerous and hard to use. Any way I prefer it. the gas is hard to get and it smells hard. It may make fire hazards. In this age of technology we must use electricity . it never finishes. But gas and petrolium may end one day and they can't be reproduced

I prefer the the electric then the gas as its is much easier to clean and it wouldn't but easily affect by the strong wind. And most importantly I wouldn't need to be worry about gas leaking.

i def perfer gas, i always end up with a electric stove. the gas well it seems like its easier to light and it gets heated up faster, also i think that the gas cooks more evenly and wen u think its too hot u cant turn the heat down wich i think is gud cuz it fast changed down lower it doesnt take so long to cool down like electic

i love the way the electric stoves look nowadays thats for sure! very clean, modern to say the least. however, every electric range ive ever been near while it was being used, seems to emit this unbelievably annoying high pitched whine that gives me a headache and sets my teeth on edge. i would go insane if i had to hear it every time i cooked. so gas range for me!

Wow deja vu...i did something like this awhile ago lol. I actually prefer gas, it cooks so much faster then electric, and I can remove the knobs to keep my daughter from turning the stove on.

Gas - I have really never used an electric range and don't quite get how you would have more control over the heat setting. With a gas range you can see how high the flame is!

I definatly prefer gas. It may also be because it's what I've always been used to. When we first moved into our apartment a few months ago, it was and still is hard for me to adjust to electric. I burned stuff left and right in the beginning because I had to learn the temps and stuff. It is just very different than gas. I like to be able to see how much I'm turning it up or down when I'm adjusting that heat and that is something that you can't do with electric. *shrugs* to each his own but I prefer gas.

I prefer Gas. My wife has horrible experience with the electricity. We never use Electric Heaters in Kitchen. I do not deny that I am using other electric installations and equipments. I am using microwave oven. We use to do half the cookings in Micro and rest on the Gas. Gas is the safest. How do you feel please comment.

Electric.....is my choice. I'm always afraid i'd put to much gas in, and blow up my house! or a gas leak....ekkk. to many freak accidents.

I know gas stove is better than an electric range but since I live in a condo, I use electric range to cook meals. and i agree, it's user-friendly, easier to clean and maintain.

I grew up learning to cook on both. I had a gas range at home, but in school we had home economics and we had an electric range in there. I used to prefer gas because I was more used to cooking on it. I had a hard time adjusting to electric once I moved out and that is what I had to cook on. I honestly don't know which I prefer. I cook on gas every so often but I don't really have trouble with either one.

i also have had both and I perfer gas, I can control the temperature by turning it down just a bit, where when you turn down electric you can't really tell if it is going down too much. I don't have small children around but yes gas can be dangerous. You need to make sure the pilot lights are lit. Gas can kill you real fast if it escapes. But i would rather have gas than electric. I have electric now but it is because I live in a rented place and have to take what is here.

I grew up using a gas stove. The first time I used an electric stove was a few years ago. I have gotten so used to using an electric stove that I prefer it now. Probably just because I am used to it now. I had trouble getting used to it an electric stove at first.

I have always loved gas stoves as once you shut the stove off the burner is no longer hot with an electric stove the surface stays warm for qutie awhile so children can actaully get burned easier by not knowing that the top is hot. I did buy a glasstop range and I love it! I like being able to just wipe it downa and not have to clean the pans underneath!

I prefer cooking on a gas stove. It's more convenient and easier for me because that's what I grew up around. I have tried an electric stove but end up burning everything so I haven't even bought an electric one. I'm thankful that every house I have lived in has the hook up for the gas stove because I wouldn't want to install the hardware to be able to have my stove. My knobs are not where my children can mess with them because I rigged it just in case one of my children tried it.

Either. You just have to get used to it. If you have gas you can turn off the burner and leave the pan on it. With electric you have to let it cool down and move the pan off of it or it will continue to cook. I don't have a preference just have to remember how to tweak my recipes.
