Me and my partner had been talking for a while about getting a dog but we both agreed that "adopting" one from a rescue center would be better than getting a puppy. So we went to have a look round one of the smaller ones in our city and our youngest daughter fell in love with a X breed called Milo. She refused to come away from his kennel so he came out and we got to see him for a while and decided to reserve him to bring our eldest daughter back to see him. We had our home visit and passed that and the next day took our eldest to meet him which went really well and we were then able to bring him home. He is about 2-3 years, he was a stray and while healthy needs to put some weight on and build up his muscle again. So he came home yesterday and has been wonderful, settled straight away totally house trained and im totally surprised at how easily he has settled into our home. I am so glad we decided to adopt a pet and while he needs a fair bit of TLC to get him back to full good health im very happy to see him looking so settled and happy in his new home. Sorry that got a bit long didnt it but its been a huge change for us all but one im very glad we made, has anyone else adopted rescued a pet and how did it go? Ive attached a picture of the newest member of our family, Milo.

So happy for you and your family!! I bet you children are pleased especially your youngest who 'chose' him!! I think that getting a rescue dog is much better than getting a puppy!! I am glad it went so easily for you. May Milo receive plenty of TLC and be very happy in his new home. It nice when they settle in easily. Congrats on your new family member!! xx

Awh that's just great! i love when people rescue doggies. They all deserve good homes. My family also rescued a dog from a rescue shelter. He is a black and white lab pit bull mix we think. He is the sweetest little buddy ever. I wish you good luck on your new dog.

I'm so happy for you and for Milo. He is beautiful. I can see why your daughter was so drawn to him. Look at those big, brown, melting eyes! How could you not love a dog like that? :) Why not make him some satin balls. It's great for gaining weight quickly and it's very healthy for them. Great training treat, too! And it makes their coat GLORIOUS! Here's a recipe for you: http://www.ehow.com/how_4502187_dog-who-needs-gain-weight.html Best of everything to you! God bless for sharing your home and your love with a homeless pet. May you have many, many years of happiness together.
