God and religions

Sometimes I wonder if the truth about God can be realized in any sectarian or organized religion. Aren't religions just different interpretations of different scriptures? People interpret everything in so many different ways. Who's to say any certain interpretation is the truth? I do feel the truth about God is within us, it's just that we need to want to know that truth no matter what, more than we want anything else in this world. What do you think?

I do not agree that the truth of God is within us. God is the infinite and we are but mortals. We cannot possibly contain Him in any way, not even a piece of Him - and that's spiritually speaking. Different religions are different ways of seeking God - because we always seek for him. They differ in Bible interpretation (some take it literally), in authority (some don't believe in the holiness of the Pope), and in many other aspects.

We must not determine what God can, or cannot, do. He can do anything. He can live within our hearts if He so choses. He can live within an atom if He so choses. The Truth about ourselves, and about God, can certainly exist within our hearts. Just as love exists within our hearts. God is love, and love is God. We must not think we can even conceive of the greatness of God, however, with our minds. That is what's impossible. The mind and the heart are two different environments entirely. The beauty and strength of spirit, of soul, is something that is not realized through the mind. What God can do cannot be analyzed by the mind. We are a piece of God, a tiny spark...so of course He is with us, always.

We are created by God but I could not consider myself as owning a part of Him. I am an adopted child and that's all I'll be. Similar to being an adopted human child, you do not own the genes of your foster parents, that is the similar to how I view my distance and at the same time intimacy with God. You shed a good light on my thoughts, thank you. Now I would like to correct myself and agree with you. The Holy Spirit, the third person in the Trinity, does live in our hearts since Baptism and reinstated in Confirmation.

personally I think everybody will end up in heaven. If you believe in a god (or goddess) then you will end up in a sort of heaven. We all take different paths in life but they all end at the same destination. God takes on many forms... I think its the Christians who tried to convert people who took that saying and turned it around to say it is the devil instead...

Eventually we all will end up in "heaven", but the paths that are out there sometimes can take us the long way around, and we always experience set backs, as there are many obstacles. It boils down to how strong and sincere our desire is to want to understand our true nature, and our relationship with God. As our desire manifests, so,too, the tools manifest, to help us reach our "heaven." Our sincerity is our protection from false gods and prophets who will always mislead us.

As a Baha'i, I believe that there is truth in all the major world religions. However, I only consider the words of their Manifestation to be true, not the interpretations of the followers. I believe that only the Manifestations can understand the will of God and the after life and that as long as we strive to help others God will look out for us in general. Life is a journey on which our souls should develop, they will continue to develop in the next world and continue to grow closer to God. In order to increase our understanding we should turn to God but we must accept that our finite minds cannot understand the infinite and so we must realize that we can never fully understand God while in this world.

The bible says that people should join a true religion and if that religion is wrong he can seek anywhere he want, Yes religion have different interpretations and so the church, but there are religions out there that are absolute in truth, I think there is a religious organization that have question and answer portion LIVE, and they always answers your question automatically.

I think God made religion to unify mankind but it seems to have had the opposite effect. Maybe we don't want to unify? Maybe we (mankind in general) likes war, killing, and fighting. I think God wanted to have only one religion. But we start a new religion every day. So, is there a religion that God actually accepts and approves? He can't be accepting them all with all their differences and contradictions. After all isn't God, the Father of us all? And doesn't a Father want to see all his children getting along? So which one is it? Is there a religion that actually practices love not just talks about it? Is there a religion that is united within itself? Is there a religion that if it was the only one left on earth, its members would be loving brothers and sisters and would make sure that every member is cared of and they would get along so well that the earth would be peaceful? They would build instead of destroying? They would love instead of hating? What do you think?
