What have you done to speed up your internet use?

I'm talking about eleminating steps that you don't need to do, or ways you have made your machine or connection go faster. Besides changing to high speed and cleaning up my discs, I've been trying to find ways to use Mylot faster and do things faster. Like I hit my mail icon at the top of the page without scrolling up my Mylot page. Don't know why I scroll up when I have an Icon up in my top rule area anyway.

I still have dial up so my computer runs at a snail's pace. I do have an icon on the top bar of my computer to open the page faster but only use it when I'm checking the earnings. I get rid of the history pages, temporary internet files and try to remember to fragment the files on a fairly regular basis. Nothing much helps this run faster but I am ok with the slow movement of this computer. I eventually get where I'm going.

Right now I need all the speed I can get. Other than 12 hours of work per week, I don't have any other income and I have liquidated almost all my assets. So anything I can do is wonderful. Just got my computer back last night. Windows XP was corrupted and so was the hard drive. Cost 107$ to get it back. Now it's a speed demond. Yes, defrag can be a help, but mine wasn't defragging any more. Red lines, most stayed, defrag would run and then I'd still have the red lines. That was more wasted time. So now defrag works. It's great. Thanks and take care.

On this very obsolete thing I am using, I keep as few things opened as possible..I do have broad band, if I had to do this with dial up, I would pull my hair out..

Everytime you use the net your computer stores several files under temporary files folder. Also something known as cookies so that webpages can be reaccessed quickly the next time when you want to. These gradually tend to slow down the spped. Thus regular clearance of these files can help you browse faster. There are softwares like tweak up which can help you configure optimal internet settings for the type of connection you use.
