I know I was young when I started to go to the dentist. I had week teeth and needed a lot of work at an early age. Now that I have a daughter I want to take every step necessary to keep her teeth healthy. I talked to my dentist and she said I could bring her in now (at 16 months) just to get her used to the idea, like opening her mouth and seeing them with the mask on. She said to bring her in about once every couple months(at no charge) until she is 3. Then they would do an exam on her. What do you think is the best way to prepare your child for this. Im so scared she will be as traumatized as me about going to the dentist.

Thanks for the responses. I went home yesterday and just got her used to saying Awww and opening her mouth real big so I could put her tooth brush in without her closing her mouth on it. Im gonna take her when I go for my next cleaning in 6 months.

as soon as the baby reach 3. you have to go to the dentist and introduce it to your kid. the dentist knows what to do to make the kid comfortable.

My daughter just went to the denist for the first time. They gave her cool sunglasses and let her make all of the decisions herself, what kind of tooth paste stuff like that. I was amazed at how well she acted. She really did a great job and all we did was tell her how much fun going the denist would be and that she would really like it. I guess she believed us because she did.

I just took mine with me whenever i went and, as their teeth came through, the dentist just took a quick look. They were both with me in the surgery when he said I needed a filling... but that I wouldn't need an injection because it was only a small one. Its amazing how brave you can be when you have an 18month toddler and a 4 & a half year old watching your every move & you dont want them to have a fear of dentists.... They're grown up now & I'm going by myself.
