Opening doors

My 19 month old daughter figured out how to open up all the doors in the house this week. She has been able to get a few of them open before now, but she is opening up all of them now. Now, my question is, aside from locking all the outside doors, how do I keep her out of the bedrooms and the bathrooms?

Yikes...that's a tough one. Have you tried door jams? The ones you can stick under the door so it won't open? But that is still like locking it and also depends on which way the door opens! Good luck....it's scary when they can do that as you don't know what they will do once they open the doors! I can see one plugged up toilet coming soon to your house!

Good thing we have 3 toilets then huh? All of the bedroom and bathroom doors open into the rooms, so a door jam would not work.

ok never had that problem with my kids..the front door yes but rooms no. heres an idea put a chain lock on the outside of the door so when she tryes to open it it wont..thats the best i have unless you wanna go chasing after her all day which is great excercise..good luck..let me know what you come up with?

I already have to chase her around all day since she likes to climb on tables and counters and get into things. Now she has discovered a new way of getting into things.

My two year old knows that the bathroom is a no no for her because she once slipped inside... and she remembers how painful it was... so she doesn't go there without me... i guess you need to put extra locks that she cannot reach... that is the only way for her not to open the doors... This discussion reminded me of the one started by drannhh... about the toddler who was able to open the house door in the middle of the night... went outside... walked for miles in search for sweets... good thing he was found by a good person and was returned to his parents unharmed...

I had the same issue with my daughter when she was the same age. She always wanted to open all the bedroom and bathroom doors and go in. In our house, there were certain rooms she didn't need to go into for safety reasons, like the laundry room, etc. We tried to lock the bedroom and laundry room doors. But that was inconvenient. There's a so much simpler way to keep a door "locked" and inaccessible without actually locking the interior door. Just take a baby diaper (new, of course!) and lodge into the door. Pull the door shut. Most toddlers are too small to nudge the door open. But the adult can open the door at will. Try it and you'll see what I mean. Hard to explain, but works like a charm. That worked for us, until she was about two and 1/2 years old.

Hurray now the adventure truly begins!Seriously, I might just invest in an extra baby gate or 3. That is what we did. It seemed to do the trick. At least she can't be in 2 rooms at once.

I think the best way is just keep the door lock, leave her in your sala, for her safe.because children dont know what close & open, we dont know the accident much better to make safe now, give her more toys or let her watch children movie, so she will forget those idea to open the door.
