What was the scariest moment of your life?

About a year ago I had heated up some pot roast for lunch. It was a very fatty, chewy pot roast. I took a bite much larger than I should have, and sat there chewing it for what seemed like forever. I tried to swallow a bit, and ended up choking on it. It was so scary. I could still breath, but I knew in a moment I would not be able to do that any longer. It was stuck in my throat and I couldn't get it to come up or go down. I stood from my seat and was in a panic, trying to think of what to do, while continuing to try to swallow or spit up this piece of meat. Eventually it dislodged and everything was fine again, except for my nerves. For a moment there (but it seemed more like a few hours) I thought I was going to choke to death. Thus far that has been the scariest moment of my life. What was your scariest moment?

I have had that happen. It is scary. I was able to reach down and hook it with my finger and get it dislodged. One time I took my Grandfather to dinner and he choked on something and we even had to call for an ambulance because we could not dislodge what was in his throat. It turned out he was allergic to the fish that he was eating and his throat swelled up.

That's even scarier because if it were a piece of food you would have had a shot at dislodging it or sticking your finger in his mouth to remove it. But the throat swelling up... nobody can help you but a doctor.

Well I would say that would have to have been when I was 18 and I became mixed up with the wrong crowd. I was a single parent at the time and it was long and complicated but I became friends with a girl whose family were not very nice and I was dragged into things unwillingly and when it was realised that I was not really happy about doing things their way I was threatened with my life, so I had to leave the area rapido. That was really very scary because I had my then tiny son to think about, but I got out of it and then moved away, far away from the area to start a new life.

The scariest moment of my life came when my daughter (now 15) was about 2 yrs old. She and one of the neighbor kids had been playing in her bedroom. I went to check on them and found they were gone and the back door was opened. I ran across the street to see if they'd gone to the other child's house, but they weren't there either. The other mom and I began scouring the neighborhood looking for 2 small kids. The neighbor's older son jumped on his bicycle and started looking in another direction. A couple older people sitting in their yard said they'd seen the kids walking down the sidewalk only a few minutes before, and about that time the older boy came back and said he'd found the kids. They were 4 blocks away playing at another kids house. I was so happy to see my little girl, but so mad at the same time. She wanted me to carry her home, but I made her walk back. I figured making her walk all the way back home would make her understand that what she had done was wrong. A few days later, I went into my daughter's room to check on her and she was gone again. I totally freaked out and started crying. However, all the doors were still locked. I paniced not knowing what to do or where to look first, then noticed that one of my kitchen throw rugs moved on its own. When I looked closer I found my daughter had pulled it over herself and fallen asleep. Nothing like jumping to the worst possible scenario first. LOL

Hi,Scariest moments? I've had quite a few. I've had a fish bone stuck in my throat while a kid. And as a kid, you know what it feels like. Once when I had been on a holiday, we had to cross the river. There were some big cement blocks way high and we had to jump from one to another. I was left with the choice of walking through the water or jumping the blocks. I felt very brave and chose the second option. Once I landed in the middle block, I looked down. I was struck with fear. I had to still reach the other side. Going forward or backward was the same. I don't remember with what courage I just took the chance and jumped and thank god landed safely. On our return, I walked through the water, not caring whether my shoes or pants got spoilt. I never took chances and showed I was brave. This instance just made me wiser and more practical.

mostly if I see a scary dream then I feel much scared or watch a scary movie then I feel scared too but when it comes with the real life I remember one incidence when I was a small kid I got locked up in a dark room where I mistakely locked up myself. certain thoughts were coming to me ,I was not able to keep me out if that moment since i was just a kid .It took much guts for me to open that door even though i should have put the lights in but no brain working that time even It was hard to breathe who will think of putting the lights on. Now i think i was so stupid to cry and get afraid but kids are like that and when they grow up they get the reality which is just the opposite that there are no such ghosts like the one i was thinking that time.

Yes that happened to me one day while I was driving. I had stopped at a light and had eaten a piece of ham ( I do not eat any white bread ) and started to drive. I felt it get caught, and did feel as if it got caught in my windpipe. I almost panicked, but pulled over and coughed really hard, and it came out. It certainly was one of the most scarriest moments.

Kats, it's hard to pick the scariest moment in my life. I've had a few. One was when my husband's parents had a gas truck leave the road and run into their house. The house burned to the ground. They were old and his Dad had a problem walking. The gas man got them out, but I later learned his Dad went back in to get something and my husband ran in to get him out. This happened just before the house blew up!! Another time was when my son was in high school. He was working at Wendy's and closed on Friday night. When he didn't come home one Sat morning on time, I got worried. I walked the floor looking out the windows constantly, looking for his car lights to come around the curve toward our house. This was before cell phones, so you can imagine how frightened we were. He should have been home by 3 or 3:30AM. He didn't get home until LATE in the morning. Seems, he was late leaving work, knew his girlfriend would be at the college that morning (It was on his way home) to take her ACT test, so he decided to go sit in the parking lot to wait to see her, and fell asleep! I was never so happy when he came driving up.

I have also had a few different scariest moments. When I was about 9-10, my dad sent me out to turn off the filter to our pool because a thunderstorm was coming. He meant for me to cut the power in the garage but I misunderstood and walked out to the pool to the filter itself. As I reached down for the switch, all the hair on my arms and the back of my neck stood up and my ears started ringing. I flipped the switch and jerked away and lightening hit the metal fence 3 feet behind me! I ran to the house so fast my feet barely touched the ground! When I ran into the house, my nose was gushing blood and my hair was still poofed up and stat icky. I think I peed my pants too. They explained that I was in "the field of the lightning strike." The other one that stands out was a few years ago, a house three doors down from mine exploded because of a gas leak. It was LOUD and the shock wave of air actually PUSHED me backwards.
