It has been a couple of weeks since Hurrincane Ike, however we are still feeling its presence here in GA. Most of our gas stations are still running out of gas. Today I left home and needed gas. Within 2 miles of my house are 3 gas stations, all of them were out of gas completely. I drove for another 9 miles before I could find a station with gas. At this particular station, cars were lined up to get in. I waited approxiamately 20 minutes before I could get to the pump. And this was at a station that had 20 pumps. Where do you live? Are you still feeling Ike's presense?

Before Ike gas around here was at 3.77 or so. We usually have the lowest priced gas in the nation. Now we are the highest. There are pumps all around town that are out of gas but there are just as many that do have it.

It has been a very rough year for many because of the weather. I hope everyone get a break soon. Our gas is starting to go done at last.

I'm hoping that things will settle out sooner rather that later. And hopefully we'll get a break before winter hits. This summer was weather related hell for many.

Yeah me too, I don't know how I made it 4 days..I had a friend comment that before she moved, they had an ice storm that cut them off from power for 2 weeks and the place where she moved to, the same storm left those people without power for 6 weeks, now that is crazy...

Here in North Carolina, there have been quite a few stations out of gas. The one I usually use has been out of gas since last week. The owner told me he has no idea when he will be getting more. I went to another station and paid $4.19 per gallon. I really think it's all a rip-off.

Several stations here that were privelaged to have gas was also raising the prices and many for cited for price gauging. In todays economy I think that is just wrong and if I realize that a place that I patronize is doing that then they can forget my business.

Yes, hurricane Ike is still affecting us where I live. You see I live on the southern coast of Texas. Ike was supposed to hit us, but turned north instead. Now we are having difficulties with stores getting their supplies since many came from the Houston area. Also our beach here is being buried under washed up wood, roofing and other things from all the buildings destroyed up north. Just today on the noon news they told us they were searching for a man who had chosen to swim off shore today (silly with so much stuff floating out there) and had gone under and didn't come back up. The coast guard is searching for him and people are searching the shore trying to find him. Our area beaches and buildings were badly damaged by storm surge and erosion also.

Unfortunately as of the evening news they hadn't found him yet. I'm afraid its going to become a recovery of a body now. People do the dumbest things sometimes. When the hurricane hit two teens were out on one of the jetty where the waves were so high. They ended up falling in, and one drowned. Two others tried to rescue him and one of the man was critically injured. Its a shame - all he did was try to help and now he is in bad shape. I really wish people would use their common sense sometimes.

My goodness, why would someone choose to swim off shore now? Well I hope that all is well.

Yeh our gas prices have sky rocketed since ike passed through. We don't really live that close to texas so we didn't get any storm damage but we still feel the after effect from the high gas prices.

I live in Ohio and some people here still are without electricity because of that bad boy, Ike. We were having some gas shortages because everyone was filling their tanks for fear there would be shortages but it's okay now. Mostly lots of trees down and power outages. I've never seen anything like the winds that Ike sent up here. I hope your situation gets better soon!

I live in tennessee and over half the gas stations in the town i live in are out of gas. If i needed gas i would have to go way out of my way to get it, but luckily i still have half a tank and don't have to go far to work. The stations that still have gas, the prices range from 3.69 to 4.29. Its really a sad state of events.

I live in Iowa. We did not have to deal directly with Ike, but we have had some changes caused by Ike. As soon as they were talking about the hurricane hitting and evacuating people, our gas prices jumped WAY up. I knew it would happen though. It is a common occurrence. They are still high now. So, yeah we are still feeling Ike's presence here. I am sorry that it is so much worse for you. I hope that they get the gas situation figured out soon for you and things start getting back to normal.

Well according to the news we are still about a week out for getting back to normal. Hopefully that is the case. I am hoping that the country gets a break before winter, as a lot of places have had it rough all summer with either too much rain, not enough rain, hurricanes etc.

Lucky you, its pretty scary running around looking for gas. But it gives you only a small glimpse of what people in the areas that were actually hit. We weren't but get to feel the effects of it. And whenever then is as evacuation we always tend to get a lot of people in GA.
