Many of us make daily sacrifices from our comfort zone to reduce our global footprint. How far are You willing to go? What are You willing to sacrifice in your daily life for the preservation of resources and ultimately Life? What will You leave for Your Grandchildren?.

I recycle when I can and save energy when I can. I can't afford to spend money on solar collectors or anything but I'll do all that I'm able to do to not waste resources. I want my grandchildren to be able to breathe clean air and drink good water.

The Teracycle link doesn't work but I'll research it. No need to throw things away! I quit using paper towels long ago. I keep a roll handy but go through less than one per year, because cloth towels and rags are SO much better and cheaper! I like trees--they make our oxygen, we make their carbon dioxide, it's a perfect co-existence. Thanks for the recycling sites!

Oh, I found it! What a great idea, and kids can raise money for their schools with trash!! Wow. http://www.terracycle.net/ Thanks so much for mentioning that!

Thank You for recycling this is very good. Reduce, reuse, recycle, and regenerate. There is also upcycling in which you take what would otherwise pollute the landfill and make it into a new product such as seen on www.Teracycle.org I believe is the site. Trees are very important to filter clean our air. Many communities have volunteer tree planting opportunities and if your community does not then you can always start one. Nike has a program called Nike Grind in which they take old shoes and recycles them into playground surfaces. I found a site www.Empties4Cash.com where they collect used ink cartridges and will send you supplies to put collection boxes through out your community, a nice program. Happy recycling. I gave up paper towels and so far I have saved over $70.00 in less then a year plus the life of much needed tress, not to mention the oil used to ship the paper towels. I found that food service cloths are very thin and extremely absorbent and can be thrown in the wash and come out just like new. They are so thin they dry very quickly on the line. They are convenient because I never run out and works better then paper towels plus I can feel good about using them.

I am willing to whatever it takes to redesign our Human Culture so that we can re-harmonise with our Planet and All Species, Annamcarra! It is simply wrong to continue to violate this world in the ways that we done and expect to have something left for our decendants... There are some very brilliant folks out there who have the answers to our problems, but nobody seems to realize that these answers are must be put to work right now! The Venus Project is one such way: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=the+venus+project&search_type=&aq=5&oq=the+venus I am in Love with this Planet and I want to become a better Lover!

Thank You for sharing your positive energy and thoughts of Love for our dying planet and all life within it. I am hoping to engage a discussion where we can share ideas for one person may have thought of something that another had not considered. I am always open for suggestions. One thing I have done is reduce my meat consumption which has a huge global impact.

I am trying to do more to be more environmentally aware. I'm working really hard to remember to turn off my lights and deactivate my technology. However, I'm disabled so it's hard for me to unplug things and I'm not willing to wait until someone comes back into my house to replug it. I don't, thankfully, need someone every second. If I did I would go insane. So if I have something unplugged, I can't replug it myself. However, I'm going to acquire a green switch which will allow me to kill off the vampire load without unplugging anything. The only problem is, that I have to ask my landlord for permission and she's a word I can't say on mylot most of the time. So wish me luck there. When I move to my new apartment in about February I'll be much more able to modify things as my landlord seems much nicer.

Thank You for connecting and doing what you can. May I suggest www.eeoc.gov/policy/ada.html As a disabled American you are afforded rights under the Americans with Disabilties Act. If you can not unplug things and need a device to help you, your Landlord must comply by law or pay the consequences of legal action. You should never ever be denied anything you need to help you live in your home. Your Landlord sounds like he/she may need to brush up on the ADA and comply with it. Your home should be handicap accessible at your landlords expense, it his is duty. I suggest printing the ADA in it's entirety to have as referance for any situation you may find it can help you. Theese are part of your civil rights and you should get to know them to protect yourself. Don't worry about the landlord getting upset because you can not loose your home for demanding your rights to be met. I hope this is helpful. Again thank you for your efforts and keep thinking green.

That's great, thank you for doing your part. Have you considered an Electric Vehicle? There is one coming out in 2010 called the Phoenix and you can get on the waiting list. It recharges in under 10 minutes and drives and has the comfort of any other SUV or Truck. It is very stylish and looks very roomy and comfortable. I have found others on the Zap site (I'm not too good with remembering site addresses). Also through EV America you can get info. for converting your existing vehicle to Electric. That sounds sweet to me, no gas bill at all. No waiting in line at the gas pump. Just think of all that would be saved. I gave up my car and got on the waiting list for the Phoenix, I can hardly wait. If you or anyone else has info to share I'd be happy to learn it. Thank You.
