At the young age of 14, I was riding my bicycle to the store as I normally did for my mom. The only thing that changed was the fact that as I was turning a corner, I was struck by a car. I ended up underneath the car and the back tire was inches from my head. Needless to say, if the back tire would have rotated another quarter to a half turn, I would not be here today writing this discussion. After the accident I ended up with 3 stitches in my top lip, and broken thigh bone and my two front teeth were chipped. I had to have a body cast which covered my entire bottom portion of my legs with the openings in the cast so that I could urinate, etc... Despite my mother's apprehensions about bicycles, I immediately got another one about a year and a half later though and continued riding even after the accident. Even today, I still riding bicycles. How about you? Have you ever been in an near death life threatening accident such as mine? If you have, then do you still participate in the thing that could be responsible for the accident? What's your story? Thank you for sharing in advance!

I have never been in an accident that serious, but I have been injured in car accidents. In one, my car was totaled when an 84 year old lady (who should not have been driving) ran a red light. I was lucky that I was only bruised over my entire body. Twice within a 3 month period, I was rear-ended. In the first, I got whiplash. In the second, I hurt my knee. Neither injury seemed that bad at the time, but these accidents - along with 2 work injuries (one to my back and one to my knee) are probably part of the reason that I ended up with fibromyalgia and cannot work today.

By the way, I'm glad you survived and can share your story today. The car accidents I mentioned didn't keep me from driving, but I do drive cautiously and at traffic lights, I make sure no one is going to run the red light before I proceed.

Wow, your story is touching. It is so good to see that no matter what cards you have been dealt in this life, that you are well able to grin and bare it and move on irregardless of what you your past has caused for your future. Thank you for your sincere words. I too am very glad to be alive. It doesn't make a lot of sense for me to be sad, mad, but rather I choose to be glad. There is alot of stuff going on in the world today. As long as I have breathe in my body, and can find a way to do things that I love to do. I will be happy and content. Although I have very big dreams, which include being wealthy and maybe famous. Although ironically, I don't like a lot of people to know intricate details about my past, and I've seen the media tear down some very good people, just for past mistakes or exploited the past as historical events. Thanks for participating.

The closest thing I had with vehicular accident was when I was in college and I cross the street and the traffic was heavy and I was feeling dizzy and there was this car that I touched its front bumper. lucky that traffic was heavy, but there was an incident that I witnessed. My older sister when we were like 5 or 6, she crossed a street and a three wheeled vehicle came and she was like went under the vehicle, pretty scary for me. good thing nothing bad happened to her

I always think that accidents and other things of that nature make us all stronger. Your story sounds a bit usual. It's a good think for both you and your sister though; glad you didn't have to witness her get hurt. Thanks for participating.

Your mother must have been terrified everytime you went for a bike ride after that . I have never had an accident such as this . I had a minor one when I was 16 and I was driving and went off the road and landed in a deep ditch . No one was really hurt but they ended up having to sedate me because my aunt who was with me at the time had convinced me that she was bleeding internally and that I had killed her . It turned out there was nothing wrong with her at all except that she was crazy and she really was crazy . I had not known her all that well and none of the family really knew her . She was good at playing mind games and I really had thought I had killed someone . It was a horrfying enough for me that it took me a long time to be able to drive after that .

Yes, the reason it took me so long to get another bicycle was because my mom wasn't ever planning on buying me another one. So I had to work and earn enough to buy one on my own. She never spoke about the accident to me, except to say, she doesn't want me to ride a bike anymore. I of course, had other thoughts in mind, and didn't want to stop riding bikes just because of one incident. I could understand if I was really accident prone, but that was the first one in my life at that time, although I had hurt myself in times past. Oh my, it is really interesting how the power of suggestion can cause some people to think a certain way. That is definitely the only weapon the enemy, has. I am very glad to hear that you were able to get over it and move on, no matter how long it took you. That is the real victory. I hope your aunt got the professional help she needed and or may even needs today.

That must have been really horrible. I ahve had some accidents but none as serious as that. When I was 14 I cut my wristby bandignd on glass and had to have 14 stiches. I also broke my wrist when I was 5 when It tripped over a sandbox. I also hit my head and it was bleeding. I also got a hairline fracture from falling off a bike. I was in an accident and cut my tongue and chiped my tooth. That's about it for me.

Wow, your series of incidents sound more serious than my 1 accident if you ask me. I am very thankful to be alive today, that is for sure. I sure hope you don't have to experience that anymore incidents such as the ones you have at such a young age. Thanks for sharing and have a good weekend and night.

Yep, I was in a bad motorcycle accident a long time ago. The accident happened on Friday and I woke up on Tuesday! I had a fractured skull, brain contusion, compound fracture left leg, multiple fractures left shin, broken nose, lost 5.5 inches of the femoral artery and I'm still here!! The doctors said I am a miracle, and I am. God has a plan for me! Have a great night.
