High-stress days

We all have days that are more stressful than others. I have one coming up tomorrow. It is the day that I have to get out and pay my bills, do some shopping, etc. What stresses you out the most? I have grown to dread my stress day because it usually takes me a couple of days to settle back down to normal. Another stressful day for me is the days that I go to see my doctor. I don't know why it is so, but I've been this way for as long as I can remember. When I know I'm going to have a stressful day I seldom get a good nights sleep before that day. How does your stress affect you?

Since you are pretty familiar with my "story" and of some of the events that have occurred in my life, I'm actually pretty stress free. When I was going through the year of hell for me in 2006 where it was one thing after another, like a snowball effect, believe it or not, as stressful as it was, I didn't let it ruffle me...if I did and actually sat down and thought about everything going on in my life back then, I could have been in a scale of 1 to 10 a 1,000 panic mode...but I didn't ...in fact, I was probably the calmest I had ever been in my life, even my friends remarked on how calm I was. Being that, if I could "survive" a year like that, I think I can survive just about anything...LOL. Not to say I don't have my concerns...I'd rather call them concerns rather than worries that will stress me out. Like you, being that it was the first of the month, I got my SSI benefits in. The day admittedly didn't start off well, as I over slept a bit, making my plans a bit late...I had to go to the bank, get money out for the rent, then the post office to get a money order as my landlord accepts only money orders.. The bank was no problem...as I took out the money via ATM machine but wasn't too keen about the post office, as mine is ALWAYS crowded with a long line. Well guess what? I nearly fainted when I went to the PO and I was practically the only one on line...On top of that, I bumped into a fantastic person. She was one of the nurses that took care of my mother whenever she was in the hospital...and I discovered something about her I didn't know. She's a Holistic nurse....we exchanged emails (when I got home I emailed her right away)..after the PO I too did some light grocery shopping. I need to go to the PO again tomorrow and do more grocery shopping. But no...on the day I know I'm to get my benefits and need to go to the bank and post office I just feel grateful for the money I have that is there for me to pay my rent and bills and allows me to keep a roof over my head.

I know you are right, pyewacket, and it isn't that I'm not grateful. I believe most of my stress is related to my ride at present. I have not been satisfied since I changed the person with whom I ride on these occasions. I am an early riser when I know that I have something that needs to be done. She likes to wait until the day is half over before she sets out. I did end up calling my other daughter to get a ride yesterday, and I was back home before the other one ever left her apartment. Maybe by switching my ride I will relieve some of the stress.

Perhaps most of my stress centers around my aversion to being in crowds, gabs. I am better now but used to get panic attacks when I had to be in crowds.

Usually I try not to stress to much over anything. Though it's nearly a basic fact of life that some things, under which we may have no control over, will induce some sort of stress in our life. Though I wish my life to be stress free, this is not always possible, since I am a business owner and there is always one thing or another that arises that causes stress to enter my life. I just deal with it the best that I can, and unwind by taking a nice warm bath at the end of very trying day. Bills and things of that nature, I don't stress over anymore, but back in the day when I was first starting out on my own, they'd always were a burden to me, since we were living paycheck-to-paycheck and really didn't know from one week to the next if we were going to be able to pay our bills on time. It was hard and my husband and I lost much sleep over it, but we made it through each day the best we could. We just took things in stride and let the process turn us into stronger and smarter individuals. We coped with the stress by giving each other encouragement and trying to stay positive about our situation. I know it is different for each individual and how they handle themselves in any sort of stress inducing situation, but it may help just to clear your thoughts, listen to soothing music, or do something that takes your mind off what is to be done the following day. Then try the same things after your stressful day to unwind. This helped me a lot when I knew the next day was bringing on something that I just didn't want to do, cause I knew it would bring much unwanted stress.

Your advice seems very sound, jeweled, and I will try to put it into practice the very next time I have a stressful day in which to go through.

Yeah ,I have the same feelings with you.Sometimes I have to spend quite long with my girlfriend in supermarket, while there is just little cash in my pocket.I feel stressful to see that she seems interested in everything in the supermarket. At last when we leave the market ,I will find the cash in my pocket is not enough and have to use my credit card. When those days come ,I find it unavoidable,so I will try to adjust my thoughts.I will tell me that luckily the money is invested on food and something necessary in life ,not stolen.

What stresses me out is when a have a hundred things to do and not enough time to do it. Or when I go to work and I am the only one working that shift. It seems that sometimes proving to be responsible can lead to these types of issues. If I didnt do such a good job, I bet they wouldnt bother me then. I would then stress myself out feeling guilty. All in all I think there's stress in every day in my life. People in my life dont seem to care. thanks. dl

You should try to delegate some of your responsibilities to others, dloveli. It seems very unfair that you should be worked so hard!

It is impossible for a person to be happy all the day. When stressful days coming, usually achanllengeable works, I will never sleep well. Sometimes, I will discuss the topic in the dream. Although some dreams I never remember in the next day, good dreams always take me good luck.

Happiness can be elusive, fishdeer, and I agree that our dreams can sometimes be very helpful.

I get stressed out if I have to go into hospital, even if it's for a routine blood test or check up, I hate hospitals at the best of times, and when I have to get up early or fast beforehand I get stressed, I hate having to go without food for a certain period and that makes me cranky, then getting up early I get stressed as I am NOT a morning person then the thought of going into hospital etc. Dentist appointments is another thing I get stressed out about, fearing that the dreaded drill is going to be used and that is enough to send me shuddering and give me sleepless nights for sure! Ok so I am a cowardly wolf when it comes to the dentist!

I must agree with you on all counts, wolfie!Dentists are the absolute worst experience I know of. My doctor stresses over my blood pressure and I in turn stress over just going to see her!

I have high stress days when I take my son to the doctors and try to make heads or tails of what I should be doing with his care. They all need to get on the same page. Right now is stressful, wondering what tomorrow will bring with the economy.

Maybe we should all take up yoga, Thoroughrob! I've heard it is a great reliever of stress.

because I can hardly walk, any day that I have to go and walk somewhere, like going to the hospital stresses me out. My doctor doesn't because he is just around the corner and that is not much of a walk but the hospital is a long walk though.

Perhaps, winterose, you could get one of those nifty little scooters to ride about on. I'm beginning to think I'm not that far off from getting one for myself!

I feel I am ellergic to stress. I react to it just as if I were allergic. I went through two years of severe depression and social anxiety. I still have bouts of it and sometimes I can't leave the house or do things normal people do.

Actually I like the days when I go out and pay my bills and go shopping and all that because that means I have money to spend. My most stressful days are a few days before pay-day because we are almost on empty and have to make it a few more days before we get paid again. My mom always used to say she would be happier if she was broke and all her bills were paid versus having money and not enough to pay all her bills and I agree. As long as no one is calling me telling me they are about to turn off my lights or put me out my house, I am stress free. I do get stressed at work when I have an assignment due because my supervisor tells me about my next project and worries me all day about having it completed. I don't work well when people are pressuring me to hurry up. I'll get done but it won't be my best work so it stresses me out when she rushes me to finish. Lately I've just been ignoring her. I put my headphones on and when she talks I pretend I can't hear her. LOL.. Works for me.

Being a single parent, everything almost stresses me out. The only thing that stresses me out more is paying bills and the economy. I barely sleep at night because I am so stressed. So, that means I am groggy in the morning. So, after I take my daughter to school, I end up coming back home and napping.

I get stressed out when I have to take a test..I hate taking tests or have someone evaluate me for what I am doing, probably because I am much harder on myself than other people are, so if I do "mess up" then it won't be a hard downfall.. I don't know if that made sense..
