Have you ever done a craft show?

When my kids were younger I worked at least 2 craft shows in the autumn and winter to earn a little extra cash. I had many items that I would make for the sale including jewelry, grapevine wreaths, decoupage boxes, decorated wicker boxes. Now It seems I don't have the ambition to do it anymore.

I did participate in one craft show a couple years ago but did not manage to sell anything. I tried selling my artwork but it did not get much attention so I have not done anymore since then. Craft shows are very nice though and there are many neat items a person can get at these shows. I may try again after I build up my art collection again.

Do you have any samples of your art work? I am always looking for something original.

My g/f loves to do the Christmas craft sales as it gives her plenty of opportunity to show the jewelry she creates.I join her on these to help where ever I can(although I think she just wants me there for my muscle) and enjoy helping her with the customers.

I did participate in a craft show years ago at my former high school. It was a neat experience even though I did not sell anything. I was more curious to see if my artwork would grab anyones attention more than anything to see if this was something that I would want to continue doing or not. Were you able to sell many of your items?

I would sell as much as $150 and as little as $15. Other people would whine at selling so little, but not me. Most of the things I made were with items I bought at tag sales, on sale, or clearance. It depended on the weather. If there was snow, it would elevate the spirit and people would buy more.

I did craft shows when I was in the Girl Scouts with my mom and troop. I remember my mom saying that there wasn't tons of money to be made from it but it was fun. My older sister and mom did glass engraving and it was really pretty.

I have done a few. My product is homemade chocolate candy, but not just candy bars. I make intricate things. My best time is around easter. I do a beautiful church with stain glass windows...also a rabbit house that looks like a tree stump...I do the flowers and the little rabbits, it has a lid and when you open it, it is filled with little chocolate carrots. Stuff like that. I do candy bars with special wrappers for births, weddings etc i also do some x-rated candy, which seems to be my best seller.

Sometimes you have to be really bad in order to make out really good!

I have always wanted to do a craft show, but I can never find the time to devote to making all the crafts that I would like to put into a craft show. When I retire, this is definetly something I intend on doing.

I should try doing them again. I have plenty of time on my hands now. Good quality crafts seem to sell very well. I put a lot of effort into all that I make. The satisfaction of knowing another person enjoys what you have made and finds it worthy of purchase is great!

My favorite craft - It relaxes me.
I am planning on doing one this holiday season, it will be my first and am looking forward to it. I make macrame jewelry and wall hangings. Wish me luck! By the way do you have any good tips for me?

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this. How did your sale go? There are a few things I would suggest for success. Make sure that your items are displayed in a neat and orderly fashion. Adding other objects to draw the eye to your items is also good too. Clearly mark each one with pricing. Only mark your items with pricing that you would be willing to pay for an item. Offer items at a buy 3 get one or something along that line. Also, you may want to add a drawing as an incentive for people to buy. Raffle off something that is an eye catcher and give a free ticket to anyone that buys a certain amount.

I have done one or two. I used to do them with my sisters. We made beaded stuff and Christmas ornaments, as well as knitted scarves and hats. It was fun, but it does take a lot of work in advance.

Getting the product ready for sale can take a long time. I would have my children help with the ornaments that I sold. We would form an assembly line and get them done in no time. My wreaths were my biggest headache. I pulled my own vine and formed them into wreaths. Then I would decorate them with dried of silk flowers.

I have done a few craftshows, one a few months ago and it was pretty fun. I know what you mean though, I lost that drive for a while too. It is like all my creative juice ran out. I finally got it back. You should start something new, that's what I had to do to get myself motivated.

What types of crafts do you make? I do a variety of things. A dear friend got me started when I was making crocheted butterflies. : )

When I was growing up I used to visit my dad and step-mom during the summers and that was her hobby/extra income. I would help her make things to sell and help sell them. I loved it. Now that I have grown I take my son, CJ with me to visit and until lately would help with the shows but now she is too ill and can't see well to make the items. I miss it. I just don't have the time to do it on my own where we live.

I have considered starting this up again. I love making things and it is a thrill to have someone actually pay you for the item that you make.

Yes, I did do some craft shows. I make custom made dolls clothes for American Girl and Bitty Baby dolls. I spent one whole summer doing craft shows. I made some extra cash.
