Liberal politicians support disgusting and inappropriate attacks on Palin

Lately I've heard the most disgusting attacks from the left. I'm not talking about mylotters or bloggers now, but ACTUAL ELECTED POLITICIANS. Rep. Charlie Rangel "You got to be kind to the disabled," Rangel, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, responded in an answer the reporter interviewing him later called "astonishing." Rangel later repeated the comment, adding, "There's no question about it" http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/09/20/rangel-takes-heat-for-disabled-comment/ And more recently Florida Democratic Congressman Alcee Hastings "If Sarah Palin isn’t enough of a reason for you to get over whatever your problem is with Barack Obama, then you damn well had better pay attention," said Hastings. "Anybody toting guns and stripping moose don’t care too much about what they do with Jews and blacks. So, you just think this through." http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/09/florida-congres.html Obama sure has some winners in his court. But wait, that's not all. "The Florida GOP responded to Wednesday's panel discussion by calling on Obama to repudiate Hastings. "Unless Senator Obama and the Florida Democrat Party believes that 'anybody toting guns and stripping moose don't care too much about what they do with Jews and blacks,' both Obama and the FDP should immediately refute this ridiculous and divisive statement." When contacted by ABC News on Thursday afternoon, the Obama campaign had no response to the Florida GOP." http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/09/florida-congres.html So here we are, a week later, and Obama has said nothing to repudiate either of these people. Clearly he's more than happy to have his fellow democrats do the mudslinging for him. McCain has repeatedly condemned inappropriate attacks on Obama, and he's done it in the past with candidates such as John Kerry. Obama, on the other hand, is more than happy to allow, and thereby encourage, such attacks on McCain and Palin. Are there any people out there who actually think these attacks are appropriate? Are there any democrats who really approve of this behavior? Wouldn't you expect McCain to condemn these attacks if they were against Obama?

Would this be the "Hasn't paid his taxes in some years" Charles Rangel? Truly it is reasons like this I can't be part of the party. I used to value what it stood for, but it has changed. They use every insult they can think of, lie and twist just to make Sarah Palin look as bad as possible. If they are so sure of their candidate then why are they trying to sway people against her?

The worst attacks come from fear, plain and simple. Obama kept claiming he would run a respectable campaign and be above smears and such. He said that when he was ahead in the polls. As the polls drew even, you saw more attacks from his side. Once Palin entered the game it became a "no-holds-barred" match where he would throw every smear he could and have his attack dogs do what he couldn't. She changed the game and out of fear he and his surrogates are stooping to new lows in an attempt to discredit her.

I mean this quite sincerely and I mean no disrespect to anyone but can you honestly tell me anyone has to try to discredit Sarah Palin at this point? Have you seen her interviews? I'm not defending any of the attacks you mentioned here for one second, but can anyone see her in action and still think she's suited to be V.P? You like to say the left "fears" her, well I'm not ashamed to admit that you're right, she scares the he11 out of me but not for any of the reasons you seem to imply. Annie

"I'm not defending any of the attacks you mentioned here for one second, but can anyone see her in action and still think she's suited to be V.P?" I don't define "in action" as interviews but rather her record as governor of Alaska. Those attacks were coming in immediately after she was chosen as VP. Nobody waited for her interviews to attack her Annie. It took less than five days for there to be pages of smears against her. I think you'll remember the thread I started specifically dealing with all that garbage.

Everyone these days think they have permission to slam and disgust and abuse the members of the other party. Sadly it's called politics. I think it's all a big load of crap, and I'm trying to stay as far away from it as possible. I'm Canadian and my husband's American. We're having an election up here in Canada soon, too. We both agree politically, so "we" have ONE vote in a Canadian election and ONE vote in an American election. That works for us.

I think these attacks are totally inappropriate. I also think that they reflect the stupidity of those making them! They seem to think that they're amusing when they're actually showing their ignorance and the ignorance of those who fall into believing and supporting them. If you recall, when the first attack on Bristol Palin came out regarding her pregnancy, Obama made the statement that kids were off-limits and that if anyone ON HIS STAFF were caught doing such things that they would be fired. He said nothing about all of his other supporters (not on his staff) that are running around making these attacks. As long as they're not employed by him, he seems to think that it's okay and takes no responsibility for what they do. I also think that the majority of these attacks are coming out because these cronies are actually afraid of Sarah Palin and what the "change" that the McCain/Palin platform means to them if/when they are elected. McCain has vowed that he will cut out the unnecessary spending and that the will let the American people know who is responsible for it - this means many of those that are currently in office that are making the attacks!
