Do you ever go to the front door in your pajamas or night gown?

If someone knocked on my front door (like UPS or mail person) I'd put on a robe first before opening the door. I don't feel comfortable standing in my night clothes in front of a stranger. Also, my disarray might embarrass the person at the door. Do you wear a robe to open the front door? Do you know someone who wears their PJ's or night gown to the front door without bothering to put on a robe?

My pajamas aren't really embarrassing, and I don't have a robe. Plus, the UPS guy always leaves the package and runs away!

Those delivery guys want to be able to say you did not answer, so they go away really quickly.

I usually peek out the window before I answer the door, If its the ups guy, I might just answer the door wearing my nightie as I will probably never see him again anyway, but if its a neighbor or a friend I will grab a robe first. I guess if I'm not going to see the person again, I dont worry as much about what the person might think. Cheers, Tianna

Don't those UPS guys usually have a route? You never know who you'll be bumping into again at the grocery store!

Clearly if I"m in my pj's and someone is at the door they clearly are not expected. And if I don't know them I do not open it whatsoever. Though now at night during the summer I"ll sit on our porch w/ hubby in the dark talking to him enjoying the stars & moonlight. I've taken my child to school in my pj's. I just put on a pair of pants and tucked my night gown in my pants and tossed on my jacket and a pair of shoes and off I went.

Depends on who it is. I would never answer the door for someone I didn't know unless I had at LEAST a robe on. I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that!

I agree that one should cover night clothes with a robe before answering the door. This for modesty and good manners.

Yes i would go to the door in my pj's. whats the problem in that. You have clothes so there is nothing to see. I even wil go outside and talk to my friends. if you feel comfortable doing this then what is the problem.

I usually wear a T-shirt and a wrap around to bed so it looks like casual clothing to me, sometimes even sports shorts too. Most of the time when the UPS guy knocks on our door it's usually sometime in the afternoon.

I would say that i have an alright body, i dont mind going to the front door in my boxers :/ ....sometimes i think its wrong, but then again what does the person at the door expect if they knock at 7 in the morning? they shouldnt expect someone fully clothed looking nice, they are going to get someone in boxers or pj's that has just dragged themselves down the stairs to get to the door! lol Chris

I usually sleep in PJ pants/shorts and a tshirt or a tank so it's not really that embarressing answering the door in my PJ's!

I sleep days so I answer the door but I put on a robe, or house coat. I don't get that much company, and my neighbors and family know I sleep days, plus I have a sign on my front door saying Day Sleeper Do Not Disturb, so far no one has bothered me, if someones does knock or ring the door bell I will probably think it is important and answer the door in my robe.

I wear a robe if I can find it and if my clothes are not something to be seen out in public. I sometimes wear pajamas to bed that look like regular clothes. I feel comfortable in those and would have no problem with a stranger seeing me in those. They are not revealing

I answer my door in my pajamas but I wear a t-shirt and pajama pants. I don't care how I look and I'm not embarrased either. Heck, we used to wear pajama pants and wear inside out sweatshirts to school! Yeah we were pretty cool...LOL but that was the cool thing to wear in high school.

I would always put a robe on first. I remember as a boy scout we would sell raffle tickets door to door it is was surprising how many people answered the door in their underwear and some times even less. Now that was embarrassing for a young boy to see naked people answering their door.

I have two pairs of loose shorts(knee length) I wear them all 24*7 hours when I am at home. They give me the best ventilated comfort. And because of them only I don't have any specific night dress. I wear my shorts only and I have no problem in answering the door while I am dressed like that. When I am at home I just don't like to get dressed up.

I try to have atleast boxers or sleep pants on before answering the door. I also have to have my bra on or i wont answer the door. When UPS does come to the door i dont always have time to put on a bra. I have tried to make it a habit now to put my bra on as soon as i wake up. Now if it is a child coming to the door to sell something i will not anwer the door in my PJs i dont want to freak the kid out or anything. I feel like the mailman and UPS person can handle it. You have to think your mailman already knows a lot about you. I found it very strange when i ran until my mailman at the store one day and he told me what was in my mailbox. And most UPS people can tell you the same thing. Its strange how they know so much about you and you dont know anything about them :)

I suppose it would depend on how awful I looked at the time, what I was wearing, or who was at the door. If it's someone I'm more familiar with than the UPS guy or a sales person I might. My friends have seen it all before so they can just walk in without knocking haha! I usually just sleep in old athletic uniforms from high school so it looks pretty normal compared to what I've seen some women wear to the grocery store. But at the same time I don't answer the door unless I recognize the person or their uniform anyway. But if I were wearing lingerie teddys or something there's not a chance I would answer the door covered in anything less than a comforter lol
