At what age did you start doing your own laundry?

I started doing my own laundry when I was 11 or 12. And, also, I did everyone else's laundry too. So, did my brothers. It was just one of the many chores to help out around the house. I liked the independence of being able to do things for myself. And popping a load of laundry into the machine just made me feel so grown up. Now, it's more hard work. Not sure why. Maybe because I'm the only one who does ALL the chores. When did you start doing your own laundry?

I started doing my own laundry when I was around the same age also. When i got older on weekends while my parents worked. I did everyones laundry. I also did housework and cooked dinner. My parents when they were still married owned a part barber part beauty shop. It is funny how things change later on in life.

Kids are really good at helping out. And, now my daughter is helping out with the house and garden. We're doing a garden. She is so excited!

Hi dear...Well I grew in such a way that,I should do my own works and thats how my parents thought me...This keeps us happy and we need not depend on others..that some one is do our work and we have to wait for others...It also keeps us always active but not lazy..Well,I started my laundering when I was in my 7th standard..I used to iron my school uniform and all other dresses..Even now I iron my dress and even help my parents in ironing their clothes...I feel very great in helping them and it makes me happy... Have a nice day!!Keep smiling!!

Not till I was 18 and moved to a hostel for college. My mom always did the laundry at home. She never asked us (my sister and me) to do it. Maybe because it wasn't too difficult for her to do it in the washing machine. When we are in India, we usually share the laundry chores (because we had to do it the old fashioned way when there was no power or water). Though we never did the laundry, we would help mother with putting the laundry out sometimes. We had to do our own folding and ironing, though.

Hello beauty queen. I have forgotten about the exact age, but I guess that it was around seventeen that I started to wash my own clothes because before seventeen I was busy preparing for my college entrance exam. But my mother was very happy that I could do my own laundry later on. Ever since then I have used to doing my own laundry. Now my wife started to train my son to wash his own socks and underwear by himself when he was twelve. I think that it is a good idea for my wife to help develop my son's ability of doing some laundry job by himself. Good for him.

I started at the age of 12 to 14.. My grandmother used to wash me and my sisters clothes for us. But, once we become very much older, I did my own laundry..

I don't remember how old I was... probably pretty young because my parents made me mature very early. I was cooking when I was 8 years old... with supervision of course. When I was about 14 I did the whole family's laundry at the laundromat. Mom would drop me off and pick me up when I called her. I've never minded doing laundry... I just hate putting it away.

At the age of 12 i started doing laundry my cloths, at that time we don't have machine and i remember it was real hard for me in winter days to wash cloths. Now i depend on my washing machine for cleaning and it is real simple.

My sister and I started doing laundry when I was ten, and at that time she was twelve. We would each be responsible for the laundry during the week, and we would take turns each week being the one in charge of it. On the weekends my mom would take over the laundry herself. And she didn't want us to iron any clothes for a few more years. I'm pretty sure she didn't trust us to iron my dad's dress shirts right!

i am the eldest daughter in the family so naturally i look out for my younger kids and i always do the chores at home..i was doing laundry when i was still 9 turning 10..actually it was an emergency situation..my mother and my youngest sister has to rush to the hospital so no one is around to do the laundry so my father asked me to do it because we have no more clothes to wear and i have to do it by hand and scrub all of them to take away the dirt..after that i have to cook rice for our dinner..that was like the most tiresome day for me...and form then on i feel like a grown up already and responsible enough and im really glad that i know how to do household chores...now that i am married my husband is very pleased with me he said i am very domisticated despite the fact that i have grown up in the city all my life.

I also started to do my own laundry when I was 11 or 12 and I got my daughter to start doing hers at 12 as well. At first she was upset because none of her friends have to do their own laundry but now at 13 she is used to it. If she is doing a load and there a few pieces from others that can fit, she will add those as well. I think it is a great idea and it helps me out because I was doing laundry every day and now I can go two days without doing laundry. The boys are too young and I am afraid they would break the machine and my partner I found under a rock and doesn't do any woman work. It is enough that he doesn't try to stop the boys doing their after supper chores and clean their own room though he thinks that they shouldn't. Sounds bad but then I don't pump my own gas or anything like that, so it is a trade off that works here.

I started doing my own laundry around the age of 14. I loved doing it. I never did anyone elses laundry though. I only did laundry when my mom wasn't around and I needed something to wear. Now that I am older that is my favorite chore. I always do laundry around my house.

I started doing the laundry at the same age I know how to do the cooking. I was 8 years old back then. I was force to do this task as we don't have any helper at home and my parents are always out of town because of their respective work. I even know how to iron my clothes. I wash our school uniform every weekend and sometimes Wednesday.

I think I was about 13 when I started doing my own laundry. By then I was the only child still living at home. My mom didn't like me doing my dads clothes so she did theirs and I did my own. I liked that plan. I'm like you. It seems like such hard work now........ never ending.

I cannot really remember to be honest with you, I think that it would have been when I left home which was when I was 17. I am the only one that does the laundry in our house and I find it really boring too! I just do one load a day now.

Wow, you're so independent and mature! I grew with maids to do the housework for me. I'm not spoiled in any way, it's just that employing maids is very common here in my country. So the only time I did my own laundry was when I studied abroad when I was 18. It wasn't so difficult, but it was very time-consuming and even draining at the end of the day. Now that I'm back home, the maids do everything for me again but I hand wash some of my clothes myself.

well, i started to help mum at the home in 4.8.1998 LOL i wrote down the date to be ever remembered and to tell my kids later on LOL on that year i was 15 years...so, i decided out of the blue to make lunch, and i have had lady fingers soup! after that, i started to help mum doing the laundry and other cleaning... during my time in hostel, i got no choice but to take care of my room in terms of cleaning, and laundering every week...every weekend i would wake up early around 6 am, get my mug of coffee, then open the window and on the radio and start my cleaning work..i would usually finish around 11 or something near that..then, i would go to my friend's room to have lunch together and then we start our readings and assignments... such great memories to be ever remembered...i'm now graduated since last month, and each one of my friends started to have their own lives... Smiley,
