It is my first time to celebrate Thanksgiving and I wish those who are celebrating this occasion a Happy Thanksgiving! I honestly don't know what the celebration is about so I have researched about it and will share it to others who don't know anything about it. Below is an excerpt taken from Wikipedia. Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving Day, is a traditional North American holiday, which is a form of harvest festival. The date and whereabouts of the first Thanksgiving celebration is a topic of modest contention, though the earliest attested Thanksgiving celebration was on September 8, 1565 in what is now Saint Augustine, Florida.[1] Despite any scholarly research to the contrary, however, the traditional "first Thanksgiving" is venerated as having occurred at the site of Plymouth Plantation, in 1621. Today, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday of October in Canada and on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States.

We had our Thanksgiving dinner yesterday as well. As much as I enjoy getting together with my family, I'm not crazy about those who drink too much. My mother gave a teary-eyed speech thanking her family, though she was quite inebriated at the time. My sister, also half in the bag, made a quick one in thanks of our father who passed away in 2006, for saving money so well that he left my mother very well off, and therefore us too. I am grateful for my family, and for my extended family. More than anything I am grateful for the two wonderful daughters I have. I spent years believing I would never be able to have children, and then years thinking I wasn't being the best mother since I was (and still am) ill with fibromyalgia. But my kids are turning into great people who I am very proud of. For that I am very grateful. Happy Thanksgiving my fellow Canadians!
