Apparently, surveys care about my religion

I have found several survey sites recently ask me if I'm a born again Christian. I guess this is important to them, since I've usually rejected if I check the "no" box. No, I'm not "born again". I've always believed in Jesus and my dad, God. I've always revered them and respected them, aside from a couple years in my youth. I don't go around handing out leaflets or knocking on doors and bothering people trying to convince them of the benefits of my religion. That's what I like about the Presbyterian church. Jesus said that if you tell someone about God and they won't listen, move on. Leave them with the information and don't harrass them. I think the Evangelists have forgotten this passage and would do well to pay attention to the Bible, even though it may say things they do not like. I think the survey sites are finally realizing that peoples' spiritual beliefs might affect politics. Man, it's about time someone realized that!!!

Here Here friend! Good for you for posting this. "Jesus said that if you tell someone about God and they won't listen, move on. Leave them with the information and don't harrass them." CORRECT! It is the Spirit who takes acre of it, not us! People say I'm crazy because I rely more on what I believe God wants me to do than on common sense, and that includes voting! I pray about voting.

Do you happen to know what chapter and verse this is? I remember being taught this but can't find it. I'm not a Bible reader. I think of God as a parent and, as a parent, I understand why He does things and why things happen. I am totally at peace with my life and how God has managed it but there are people that ask me why I don't agree with people constantly harrassing people with their religion. I could really use some chapter and verse!

I can tell you this- Jesus sent the disciples to go and share the Good News. His instructions were this - Mark 6:11 "And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, shake the dust off your feet when you leave, as a testimony against them."

Thank you! I knew I'd read it in the Bible but couldn't remember where.

Yes, I've had that happen. The worst is OTX--I answer at least a dozen questions before the tell me I'm not qualified! I used to be part of Greenfield Online but they never paid anything. Now I find a lot of my paying survey sites have surveys from Greenfield--I get paid if I do them through other sites but not through the host site! How strange. Greenfield doesn't like me much, either, though. I guess I'm too old for them to care what I think.

It makes me think that they're trying to manipulate the religious population. Strange how about 90% of people in this country say that their religion is very important to them, yet we are in such a financial mess because of greed. Are 10% of the people responsible for this mess or are the 90% being less than truthful? Greed, after all, is a sin in any religion.

That's very interesting. I have not yet come across a survey that asks me about religion. Indeed, religion plays a big part in our political lives. I am a Christian. I work with a Christian who always has her bible. She does not go around preaching to people either. Everyone knows that if they want to know anything about God, to go to her, she will be glad to share.

You boss sounds like a wonderful example to other people. Strong beliefs but live and let live. That's how it should be!

This is the first time i have heard of surveys asking about religion!! I personally have never come across something like this. You are right when you say that people should be left on their own and not be harrassed about following a certain religion. I personally feel it is degrading God when you roam about here and their trying to convince people to join your religion and then being rejected, it feels as if God is being rejected. If someone want to jion a religion they themselves would look for reasons to join and nobody would have to force them. I am not much into politics so i dont understand how religion affects politics.

Religion really should have nothing to do with politics but our politicians will seize upon anything they can to get an advantage. We have the sleaziest, trashiest politicians in the world!

I didn't say I didn't read His word. But I rely on my heart more than the Bible, which was written by men and picked apart by the Catholic church hundreds of years ago. We are missing a large portion of that wonderful book because they didn't think we should see it. It's been edited, changed and chopped up until it's just a shadow of what it was long ago. I'm not "born again". I was born once, I was baptized as a baby and again when I was in my 30's. My spirit has always been close to God even when I rejected Him for a few years in my 20's. Why do you think I'm not a Christian?
